Really simple question- how to turn off radio/cd player?

Hi everyone!
New here, just bought a 2006 Carrera S.
Is it possible to turn off the radio or CD player without turning off the entire PCM? The only way I've found is to mute it... pretty annoying!
Also, does anyone know if the tire pressure monitor can be fitted on by the dealer? (Original owner did not get it.)

Thanks!

As far as the tire pressure monitoring,I wouldn't do it !
I can't speak for Porsche but other cars I have had were very "finiky" (tempormental).
I am really glad mine doesn't have that option as well.

I have an 05 Corvette, the monitors work fine for me. Had a 99 Corvette too, worked well on that car also.
From what I understand, ALL cars sold in the US will have tire pressure monitors mandatory soon, 2010(?)...

Works great on my 06 997 C4S. In fact notified me I had a small leak on the left rear. I would not have known otherwise until much later.

Regarding the TPS , I do not believe it can be retrofitted ( requires different wiring harness , receiver integration etc. )

i didn't have the oem tpm either. but i installed one aftermarket. the one i had installed works great. it beeps to let me know if pressure is falling. and it gives me the exact pressure, temp on that wheel and how much above or below the recommended pressure. it also adjusts for the temperature. did you know that the front tires on the 911 run about 5-10 degrees warmer that than the rear tires. the only downside to the system is that the display is in the glove box. it's already saved me a few times. it's really difficult with the low profile tires to tell visually is the tires are low.

from what i read/heard/thought re the was something along these lines

NHTSA Tread Act states ... "20% of all new cars must comply by Sept. 1 of 2005, 70% by Sept. 1, 2006 and 100% by Sept.1 of 2007" [1], [2]

So, any car manufactured and/or sold (not 100% clear to me) after Sept.1 of 2007 should have TPMS as standard equipment.

actually you might already have it. I have a 06 997s cab, and I bought a set of wheeels and tires from a 997tt, and I had to have a code cleared at the dealer before i had the SC installed, and they asked me if I wanted to have the TPS turned on since I had the monitors in the new wheels and tires.

I know a couple of aftermarket TPMS like Smarttire and PressurePro which are mainly used in motorhomes and you don't need to install the sensor inside the wheel. You can check www.campingworld.com or other RV supplies store. I still like the OEM. Does someone in here know the part number for these tire sensors? I saw a picture of one and it is just a tire valve with an integrated sensor inside the wheel. I think you can port these valve sensors to other non-Porsche wheels provided your 997 also has the software and signal receiver (RF?).
