Can I turn off my “Service Engine Soon” light?

Guys, I have the “Service Engine Soon” light in my dash (message in the tach) when I start my car.
Can I turn this off, reset?
Do I have to go to the Dealer?
Thanks

You can stop by autozone and use their OBDII reader to look up the code and reset it. Now this will only work if this is an OBD2 event, if it is a private porsche code, you're SOL unless you have the access to porsche code software.

I also believe Durametric software allows service reminder resets

Does porsche trigger CEL for as a service reminder? They;ve not had it on 996 where a CEL indicated a problem

He's asking about the text message - there is no CEL for "Service now" or "Service in km/days". The Durametric product allows you to clear service reminders.

Mine came on and I took it to the dealer to reset. Called one dealer and they wanted to charge an hours worth of labor. Called another and they said bring it in and we will do it for no charge. Took them about 10 min to resolve.

I think it indicates that there is an error code in the system.

Pathetic that a dealer would charge an hours worth of labor to reset it. No charge should be standard for this type of thing.

No error code - it's a service reminder.
