Question for all MY05-07 Owners
Question for all MY05-07 Owners
Hi All,
Do you switch to the MY08 Maintenance intervals (every 12k miles) or keep follow the original MY05-07 intervals (every 20k miles)?
I got a coupon of a $220 plus tax minor service from my local dealership that expire 5/31/08. I planning to use it next weekend but my MY06 only has 16k miles now and it won't be two year until September. So far I only changed oil and filter twice within 16k miles (at 2k and 10k). I planning to get the minor service done next weekend and then do another minor service at 24k miles then follow the MY08 maintenance intervals from there. Or sure I save my money by keep follow the MY05-07 Intervals? As far as I know there are no major mechanical difference between the MY05-07 and MY08.

I have always followed the same regimen of 7500 mile oil changes . Currently with my Turbo I will do it every 5K miles . This works well with my driving style .
I never had a problem . The "recommended" maintenance may sound great on paper yet with climate , altitude, driving habits as well as the timeline simply present too many variables IMO.
If my Porsche was leased rather than bought --I would ONLY follow the recommended scheduele . After all it's THEIR car and it's basically rented so maintenance , repairs, even bodywork I would adhere to whatever rules Porsche recommends .

We'll never know for sure if the new recommendation is because Porcshe's engineers felt it was important or to help their dealers increase service dept revenues or perhaps both...
I have an '07S which just passed the 10k mark but more importantly is 15 mos old and it's going in for an oil service next week

I have always found frequent oil changes to be the best way to maintain a car. New oils and the dealer's prices caused me to rethink that strategy, but I'll change my own oil if need be. +1 above if it's leased.
