It's 2,000 miles, so assuming an average of 30 MPH that is roughly 66 hours, YASMV

Probably the car is pretty well run in at 1,000 miles, Porsche is being conservative. For people who only put 2,000 miles per year on their cars this is an issue but the answer is to go out and drive the car!

I started to raise the revs a little bit after about 1,500 miles (to 5,000 rpm) after 2,000 miles it took it to 7,200 but fairly gently, I did a DE day at 2,200 miles - the car felt great!

If your car is going to burn oil, it will burn more with an easy and long break in.

I will err on the side of caution. I don't need an oil burner. Thanks for the advice.
comedians? because they don't believe the break-in crap?

It took a month for me to reach the 2K mark. During the break in time, I would occasionally hit 5 or 6K rpm by mistake.

At 4200 rpm in 6th, you can hit around 107mph and you can accelerate out of the turns quite nicely.

Since 2K miles, the 4K rpm mark is when I start hearing her purr and usually wind it up to around 6K in at least 1st and 2nd and at least 5K in 3rd.

If stuck at a constant speed of 45 and 55 mph zones, usually let her run at around 4K rpm.

Don't be conservative....................use the gas peddle and wind 'er up quickly, no matter what rpms you are maintaining. You will not believe how nice she will move between 4500 and 7000 rpms after the break-in.

I understand the cam adjusts to your driving habits and will re-adjust every 6K miles..............anyone confirm that??
