A horrible noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went out for my daily morning drive this morning. Along the way (and I am way out in country), I see this guy walking toward me and on my side of the road. He is in jogging shorts and a T shirt.

So, as usual, I swing wide into the oncoming lane to give him plenty of room.

As I get closer, I notice he is limping pretty good and then he signals with his thumb for a lift.

Well, I had just accelerated to 6K in 3rd gear so everything happened quicker than I could respond and pull over to give him a lift. I did slow and flip around and gave him a ride.

As I pulled down his street, in a nice area, I noticed it was covered with tiny gravel over the asphalt. After dropping him off and pulling out of the street I hear this horrific loud sound like someone using a circular saw!!!

I slowed to the stop sign and it stopped. I made a right and sound got a little worse during the turn so I pulled over and stopped. Took a look and could not see anything.

As i took off slowly the noise continued and I turned the wheel from left to right and then all of a sudden it goes quiet. The noise stopped.

Can't tell you how my stomach went into knots hearing that terrible sound. A scary moment for me.

Anyone else experienced such a thing?? I am sure it was pebble that must have made it's way in somewhere and eventually came out.

Gravel pinging off the of the mufflers? The rear wheel well is open behind the wheel on the 911, I pictured all sorts of damaged the first time I heard that noise driving down a freshly paved road with gravel on it.

Yep you got a pebble stuck.

WOW Waxhaw...I use to live with my parents while in college in Matthews back in the early 80's and had a girlfriend out in Waxhaw. There was nothing around back then but some country roads and never saw a cop.

You know, mdrums; the town of Waxhaw hasn't changed much. It is still just a one stop light (at the RR tracs) and not much more than antique stores.

They did build a new strip mall just west of town on Hwy75 and Waxhaw Police Department is located there.

There are so many back roads all around, it is a driver's heaven!!! I often wonder how it would be have a Porsche in the flatlands of Florida.

Just last night I was out and even with the Valentine1, I usually don't go to the triple digits............it's hills and curves I seek out.

Still, just a beautiful place to live and I am free on weekdays which makes it nice between 9 and noon.

Looney, I miss all the curves myself! The flatlands of Florida are very dull for a driver but living on the water and being only 90 miles from Sebring Intl Racway sure is nice for DE's!
