But will likely cost you any remaining warranty. Go for the S.

....

http://coochas.com/porsche/911vids.html

This is pretty good site to kill time if you really love porsche.

theres a video clips about performance comparsion between 997/997s on bestmotoring part.

They did 997/997S In depth mechanical check , 997/997S Acceleration 0-400m & Braking Tests , 997/997S Cornering Tests, comparison with NSX , and 997/997S/NSX/996TT/Modena Track Battle.

Have fun.

is there anything else that distinguishes these two variants?
If you're going mod the car somewhat, (not drastically) I'd say not worth it...

$10k will get you wheels and breathing mods, even a little more if you buy used. (pre-owned)

Let us know what you do.

Spend the extra $10k it is worth IMO
Concurr-

I drove both and the S pulls noticably more-
The non-S is fine however- I would say the difference on the
used market is closer to $6K --today, making it more of a no- brainer
"if" you can do the $6K - plus I believe that most would rather have the higher model if it is only down to six grand...

Cheers-

This how I see it:

Included in S
19" Carrera Wheels $1,550.00
Bi-Xenon $1,090.00
PASM $1,990.00
Sport Steering $250.00
Gear Lever in Aluminium $290.00
Switch Panel Aluminim$500.00
Bigger Brakes$1,200.00
Total for above options $6,870.00
Extra 30HP and 22 lb-ft $3,430.00

If you want the included options, then the power bump is nice and does not cost an extra 10K.
Yes, good point.

Great point! And the others made as well. You're right...I was looking Carrera 2's pre owned ~10k miles...05-06 models...around $56-63...C2S's range $63-70 it seems. Then there are the ones that boggle me in the $70-80 range..there seems to be no pattern in pricing.

Right now Im going to shop around for a C2S i think....hopefully my budget will support that! if not then ill fall back on the C2 ) all together for a first 911 and 997 c2 or c2s is pretty damn good

hmmmmm

As factory options I agree but that said.....I always swap out my wheels and selling the stock wheels helps bring down that cost, many none S cars come with Xenon (same lights), exhaust tips are a light mod (I bought S tips on ebay for 99$ and had the ceramic dipped)..... I think the two key things to focus on are as the "big differences" in buying an S vs none S used is the extra HP and the larger brakes. Most everything can be debated based on the options the none S car has etc... if you mod a bit etc...many none S cars come highly optioned and just lack the extra HP and the Brakes.

If I was buying new I would go with the S as a none S with loaded up options approaches the S prices.... where used you do typically see near a 10K difference between the two....someone here mentioned 6K and on some deals this maybe true but on average I would say it is still near 10K most times, assuming you found a great deal on a none S. I found S cars 6 months back at low $60K's and a couple at 59K. (low miles, cpo, nice shape) I found a mint none S, highly optioned (bose, nav. xenon, heat/pwr mem seats, sport stearing wheel, etc...) for $50K, with low miles (17K) and cpo'd till aug 2010. Yes bought in the dead of winter and consider myself an excellant car buyer but for me it was a near 10K less. And I love to mod, and sounds like you have the mod itch as well. If money isn't a concern go for the S, no doubt, but for me it was less can I afford it but more value vs what else I can do with 10K. ...... if you shop and OK buying used mods you can do a ton with 10K. Here is my car.... please do not mind the ride 4x4 height as the coil overs go one next month..... here is a real life exmaple of what 10K adds. Also I get bored fast of cars, so my plan once CPO warranty is done, will be to go Supercharged... 3.6 none S and 3.8S the SC adds the same results.

Car = 50K
Mods out of pocket less then 10K....keep in mind I shopped and bought some parts used, of many 6speeders etc...
Mods = Techart coil overs they are going on soon, B/M short shift kit, clear side markers, RUF 19 wheels with near new toyo Proxy4's, H/R spacers in rear, S exhaust tips ceramic coated, exhaust bypass (sounds great), OEM front silver seat belts, swapped out black gauge cluster for silver, billet machined racing pedals, OEM 6 disc CD changer, Hamman front chin spoiler, porsche crest valve caps, silver hood badge crest swap, bumperplugs key lock plug, black Carerra emblem, Porsche oem aluminun gas cap, front clear 3m autobahn hood/fenders/mirrors, etc...

If your NOT into modding etc I would Go S. Modding is a disease to many of this forum....I have a mild form compared to many here....

yes

yes agreed or even spend the 10K on mods to actually make it handle better then the S is you want handling vs just HP.... 10K if you shop right can go a long way in mods and upgrades...

hmmm... im also lookin at C2S vs. C2...

Everyone makes great points, but it's still so hard to decide. First, I will be doing mods to the car, but just intake, exhaust, wheels, suspension and perhaps a gt3 front bumper (depending how much my wife drives the car)...

2nd I will do a couple track events a year (but nothing crazy)...

I've found a Carrerra S with 29K miles for the same price as a Carrerra with 13K miles (light options)... any thoughts on this? (Sorry for thread jack, but we're on the same topic)...

I've thought about this over and over and can't come to a conclusion... Personally, I think the allure of the S is part ego (I'd rather have the "more expensive" car) as I read the Exce11ence article regarding the comparison... However, I DO feel that I will eventually get more for an S in the future (although I plan on keeping the car for a while)...

Thanks!
AK

no question...

assuming both cars and near equal condition, same year, same warranty etc... and same cost? I would go with the S with 29K miles vs none S with 13K miles. Especially if the none S is light optioned...

Pse?

your letting PSE drive your decision? I would rather have the color I wanted over PSE.....or the Bose, Xenon or other....
