997 C2 vs. C2S
997 C2 vs. C2S
as my shopping continues...
i see the price diff between a c2 and c2s is about $10k on the pre owned market
granted you get 30 extra horses on the c2s compared to the c2..im not really looking to track the car or race...but i do like power...but i dont know if 30hp justifies another $10k
is there anything else that distinguishes these two variants?

I know the S guys are going to hate me but I don't think its worth it.You don't feel the power difference, and on the street they are not pulling away from me.I race autocross and I beat them so there suspension is not givening them an edge there either. And I ran the 1/4 at 12.8 which is close to what there running. They look alike and I like the rims on the non S Better.
Try to get one with the Sport Chrono package and PSE

I agree.

The 997s from the Rss dyno day made 305.68 hp to the wheels, while the 997 made 289.4 hp to the wheels. I was present and saw the results myself. My stock non S pulled 295.8 hp to the wheels. Is 305 to the wheels typical for the S? That's only 10 hp more than my non S. $1k for every 1hp is not worth it to me. Brakes are much better on S. I'd rather spend the extra on an Sc kit and get close to 997 turbo performance. Only problem, you would lose factory warranty.

This how I see it:
Included in S
19" Carrera Wheels $1,550.00
Bi-Xenon $1,090.00
PASM $1,990.00
Sport Steering $250.00
Gear Lever in Aluminium $290.00
Switch Panel Aluminim$500.00
Bigger Brakes$1,200.00
Total for above options $6,870.00
Extra 30HP and 22 lb-ft $3,430.00
If you want the included options, then the power bump is nice and does not cost an extra 10K.
Drive both and decide.

what do you mean better lights? do they both not have the bi-xenon headlights?
rims dont matter to me because at some point id probably end up putting the 997 turbo triple five spokes on...i love those wheels.
big brakes are a plus. i hear mixed things about PASM...some say its useless b/c it makes the car seem stiff, some say you cant live without it!
What exactly is PSE? And after answering that...why is this important, haha.
Yeah Im definitely weighing the $10k to use in the future towards mods or spending it out front for options that on a used 997 i can maybe pick up (sport chrono, tiptronic, nav, xenons, nav)...i can always change the tips and the rims for a lot less than $10,000

Bi-xenons are not standard on a Carrera. Options dont really mean a thing on a used cars value so you should be able to find a nicely equiped regular Carrera for around the same price as a stripped one.
And you can definetly feel the power on the S. Worth the extra money? Depends on the driver. Drive both then decide!
