It's Great...It Sux...It's No Biggie...
Lets all remember these are just pics! Perhaps before becoming so opinionated, we should hold final judgement until we've seen it in the flesh...

Go to the other thread for the link to the web special or click here:

It shows everything about the car. I answered my own question and I'm wrong. PDK is still heavier
997S mk2 manual weight = 3142 lbs
" PDK weight = 3208 lbs
Oh well. The features look awesome though!

I like it. Let's face it - most folks can't tell a 996 from a 997 so these differences in the grand scheme of things are pretty minor.
The under the skin changes sound great - but not enough to make me trade up to a new one!

what I'm most impressed by is the launch control feature revving up to 6,500rpm! my M3 has a completely crippled launch control and I love how Porsche is bringing this non-crippled version to the US.
one thing I hate about the dual clutch tranny though is that the steering wheel "paddles" kinda suck. I would rather have to just pull the paddles and have one paddle for up and one for down than have to push and pull either one of the paddles... oh well, I guess that's just a personal pref and being using to SMG cars...

Hello everyone.
New member, 1st posting. I am a bit conflicted about the 998. The dodgy styling seems amiss. The Cayman and the Carrera seems redundant, and uninspiring. The softer lines continues the trend Porsche has chosen in order to sell more cars. I fear the iconic Carrera might be in trouble.

hehe you're going to get your typical extremist words like "hideous", "hate", "grotesque", "ugly".... glad i have the older model. why can't you just like both?
I for one would take LEDs over the tired incandescent lights EVERY day of the week. it modernizes the car so much.
good work porsche with the freshening up without making the outgoing model look obsolete... just a little more "classic".
you can keep playing in your non DFI, lower hp 997 sandbox bro and pretend you don't like the new models your other porsche fans will be picking up soon (maybe me)

We'll just agree to disagree. And actually, not liking the looks is a good thing, as it will help me resist trading up for all the other goodies. I fully expect a call from my salesman in a few days dangling the worm since he knows I typically trade out every 1-2 years.
"Come on in," he'll say. "Lets play with all the new gadgets and go for a test drive on the PDK." Knowing I'll leave with an potential order in mind.

996 and 997 are pretty different ... but not this facelift..
