Dension Install
Dension Install
Hey All,
You have probably seen about a million installs about this product already. I just wanted to share my install that happened today. First off, I want to send a big big HUGE thank you to LARRY T. You pretty much saved me from pulling out all my hair, you were a tremendous help and showed a great deal of patience and care towards me. I cant thank you enough.
With that being said, the install took 1.5 hrs. Mainly because the instructions on the website and in the box were very confusing. They show a few different installs each for a different car or for a different set up for our cars. Ok, then, if dont really know how Fiber optics work you have to get that science down. Once i got a grasp of things (again with Larry's help) things moved along. I dont have a CD player so i connected the red and black (power and ground) wires to the existing loose red/green, brown, and white/red cable set (which are for adding CD at later date) which can be found to the extreme left when you remove the plastic moulding inside the trunk space. Red/green is power, brown ground. once connected install to Dension (one spot possible). Once thats done I disconnected the two orange Fios lines from the back of my GPS and took the one with light out and hooked it to the dension box in left spot on box. Once you do this you are pretty close to being finished. Connect the Audio box (comes in kit) to the Dension, connect the ipod to the Dension using the plug that looks like any other ipod connector. Once all that is done you have to position everything as you like, ensure that it will fit back with plastic covers, cover all, then test. I was really lucky that it accepted the Dension right away (others said i would have to go to dealer to get some programming). Again Larry walked my through the steps (by phone) to program the Dension so that the names of the songs would show on the PCM. For that, you have to make sure to not have a CD in the dash, then press audio button. Then you must flip the Audio box that came with the Dension up and down three times. Once that is done, hit the #6 on your PCM, it should pull up cdvfeg on the screen...your on the right track. Press the arrow to the right until you get the aux gw on the screen. From that all you have to do is press #6 again, then right arrow until you see +selecting on the screen. Thats about it. I hope this will possibly help someone either now or in the future by making it a bit easier to install.
