997 in Miami

Went to the collection and they had a blk/blk 997 S. Let me tell you that our 996's look very dated. The car looks AWESOME!!!!! Their has been a great deal of talk about the Cayenne looking interior, but I am here to tell you the car is incredible in person!!!!! The reason the collection had a 996 S is because its not a dealer car but a Porsche Cars of North America vehicle. It was brought down because PCA is taking the Dealer and Sales people to Homestead race track. Porsche sales and management to drive, they will also have on hand a BMW 6 series and E series AMG to compare.

This will be a closed event, and Porsche will be flying down 3 drivers for this, this is happening across the the U.S. in Porsche's Major markets only Florida, California and New York.

Also the only reason I was able to look at the car because they were waiting for the manager to drive it downstairs to the storage lot. The car will not be shown to any prospective buyers until the official launch.

Thier will be a 997TT. Late next year Known as the 997 TT (model year 2006). The only reason they re badged the 996 TT with an S was to get rid of the final production 996 that Porsche has on Hand.

Thats the most I was able to get out of the PCA representative.

Thanks for writeup Orlando. I would have thought an M3 and a new Vette would have been better comparison for the 997... we are talking 911 and not 928. My local dealer told me they are expecting 997's in August, looking fwd to seeing one in person.

You are going to be very surprized how nice the interior was designed.

The whole car is beautiful.

Orli

Could you go into a little more detail on the exterior differences which makes the 996 dated? It's hard to tell from pictures.

Thanks

For one the center console from the Emergency brake up to the A/c vents are very angular and straight. Everything is digital readout. The shifter is a smaller, the doors have all the controls for windons and power seats. The Dash Gauges are larger and set in deeper. The exterior is a throwback to the 993, in other words the car is awesome looking.
