Am I wasting my time?
Hey everyone,
I have been driving BMW's for majority of my life and all I've been able to dream about since '05 is the 997!!
I cannot yet afford a Turbo or GT3 and therefore am pretty set on purchasing a white C2S. I have been scouring the internet for months and pretty much have my mind set that I want:
-C2S
-'06+
-white
-black or beige int.
-Aero Kit
-Sport exhaust
-Manual trans.....etc.
I narrowed my search down to two cars. This is where it gets complicated and hopefully you guys can help.
-Will the '09 models have the Aero Kit option?
-If so, will it be facelifted like the rest of the models?
-Lastly, would I be better off waiting until November(ish) for the new models to drop or have the pre-facelifted versions already taken majority of their depriciation hit?
I want to pull the trigger by the end of the week, but these questions keep bothering me
Thanks in advance,
John

I recently drove my friend's 997 GT3 and I completely agree. The difference in pricing is crucial for me, however.
Otherwise, I'd be all over one! Plus I wouldn't mind having the extra seating room in the C2S

You waited all this time . Two more months will answer a lot of questions and erase some doubts . I don't know about the aerokit but if Porsche doesn't have one some quality aftermaket will.
Things like the add on parts are not as important as getting the right car from day one . One can always change or wait for an aerokit but en entire car swap is a lot more expensive.

I think the rear seats are useless, I would remove the seat backs, however they make a great storage shelf for my tool box (to and from the track). I agree with the GT3 being a great car, and I would love one, however I find the extra $ to hard to do right now. Perhaps in a few years, for now I will drive the snot out of my C2S.
yrralis1 - Two more months will surely erase some doubts, but I am moving to south FL soon and would like to unload my current cars beforehand. The only reason I waited this long is because until recently I wasn't able to afford the car I wanted. Fortunately, I am finally able to make the move! You make a very good point about starting with the right car, though.
And NorthVan - I'm young and single and need the ability to fill the backseat with petit young women!
I see myself in a GT3 in a few more years

You mentioned the financial aspect, so my advice is to go with a great deal on the pre-facelift model this Fall once the new facelift cars hit the dealer lots. They'll want to get rid of the "old" 997's and great deals will be out there. It's an amazing car, and you have to ask whether it is worth the extra premium to get the facelifted 997 over the current 997, in terms of price and performance.

) but I think a C2S is a lot of fun, I would love a GT3, but I am OK with "getting by" in my C2S, I say get one and drive it, once you get comfortable then do the GT3.Enjoy Florida!
I'm searching for a white C2S as well,...and indeed I am in the 'waiting mode' for another couple of months to hopefully scoop up a deal. I believe that the new 09s will push the market for the current 997 a bit down. Having said that, if a good deal comes along, I'll pull the trigger...
NorthVan - we're definitely on the same page. Thanks alot for the kind words
You'd be surprised the amount of young ladies I've had in and out of my M3 with no problems so I can only hope it's the same with the Carrera
Kamran - anything imparticular you're looking for? I pretty much have every white C2S on the market memorized
yrralis1 - I have driven numerous 997's and have found the C2S to be the most exciting to drive other than the GT3, of course. I've yet to drive a 997 Turbo. I think the C2S would be a great step between my M3 and hopefully future GT3.
yemenmocha - I would love to wait for the facelifted models but not only would I be waiting for their release, but for their prices to drop as well!

If price is the issue the used car market has only one way to go --down.
If the new car is as great as expected --don't worry . As long as you have a telephone and a checkbook in hand you can find a discount. It may not be as great as with the current car (comparing new to new) but the disparity won't be tremendous .
The priority has to be set at getting the right car . Waiting gives you more choice.
I'm in the same situation as you are. I currently have a BMW 335i coupe and can't seem to get rid of it. If you're looking at the used car market, I'd wait til Fall since many more will be traded in for the newer ones...which will bring the cost of the used car market even lower. If you're looking for an '08, they're already discounting at close to dealer cost, but not quite there yet. I've already gotten quotes off the phone for at least 10% of MSRP in Southern California. That's at least 8-10K off...putting them at at purchase price of 80-86K nicely equipped. So if you're looking at used cars, you should only settle for certified ones at 70K or less to make buying used worthwhile.
I am a minimalist. Plain c2s will do, acceptable interior color (white ext. with yellowish/brown interior can resemble a dirty diaper) and manual is a must. The only other option that I care for is back up sensor. They are out there and I am sure that as soon as 09s hit the floor, many 05, 06s will turn up for sale.
