I don't have any pictures here on my work computer that I can upload but there are a bunch of pictures in this thread that I started when we took delivery of my car.

Please note my one caveat. I have a 6-year old, piece of crap digital camera. Between that limitation and my complete lack of photography skills, these aren't great pictures. If anything, these shots do a lousy job of capturing the red interior as it looks almost pink in some shots. But if you've seen the red interior in person you'll know how great it looks in real life. If nothing, these should give you a good idea of how the deviating carpets really help set off the red interior and break up all that red.

I'm in the market for my first Porsche (used 997 911S)...and am considering colors.
For me, the most natural combination is black on black yet I'm concerned with
temperature issues. I live in San Diego where it's mostly between 70-83F all year round. I'm tired of silver and grey.. so White, Yellow, or Blue may be acceptable alternatives.

How much of an issue is color and cabin temperature for a 911? Is it a real factor? Also, for cleaning and scratches.. is black a pain?

I appreciate your suggestions.
I'm new here so I hesitate to create a new thread. Figured I could post here.

Joseph

Hi Joseph -

My climate in Dana Point is very similar to yours so I hope I can help you out here.

I personally don't think the HVAC system in the 997 is as good as it should be. I find that I constantly set my auto temp. several degrees cooler in the P car than I do in either of my other two cars. And the A/C seems to work a little harder. It's not bad, but it's not great. The few days in June when it was hotter than Satan's den, I was never uncomfortable. But again, the HVAC system seemed to work harder than it probably should.

Second, if you are a neat freak black is a raging pain in the ***. My last sports car was a black on camel Acura NSX. I am a certified neat freek and as much as I recognize that nothing looks better than a clean, black car, I also know that I will never, ever, ever own another black car.

Black shows dirt, dust, lint, fine scratches, etc. more than you can ever imagine. I live at the beach and I can't tell you how many times I'd wash that car but by the time I was done drying it, I wanted to wash it again. It drove me nuts.

Porsche offers plenty of other nice looking hues to choose from if silver isn't your thing.

Good luck.

I had a triple black cab, and loved the color combo. I understand that the basalt black is easier to care for as it doesn't show dust or swirl marks as well as pure black. I would opt for meteor gray, atlas gray, or basalt black. They are all strong colors that look good in my opinion. And a black interior with full leather looks great.

I'd go with sliver/red over white/red. The silver exterior blends much better with the interior silver accents.

I would go with the White-- but with the Sand Beige Full Leather with the Cocoa Top-
The Red is too much for me...Would you have a RED couch in your family room?

I guess maybe- just not for me.

Plus think about it- you will have white / red with a black top-??

Again...not for me....

Love that red interior! I wish my 911 had that interior.
