What should I offer for these 997S's??
What should I offer for these 997S's??
So I've identified 2 911s of the 06 C2S variety that I'm very interested in. Both have around 24k miles on them, 1 owner, certified. Sport Chrono, bose, blah blah. The KBB trade in on them is about 55k. For the black one they're asking $71k. The white one $78k. The $71k is right around market resale value for the black according to KBB. But I really prefer white and it seems to be more rare. Is that justification for the $78k asking price tho? Is it realistic to get these guys down to the low $60's?? Both are at different Porsche dealerships. Thanks for any help!!
White is "hottest" resale color for a 911 at this time- at least here in SoCal
I would not doubt that they want more for a white one- but all things being equal $7K for color is a big gap- I would be OK paying $2-3K more for the right color- not $7K
Cheers-

Roger roger on the price diff. for the colors. So what recommendations on reasonable offers for either, based on the assumed kbb trade value of $55k?

Here's what I think
- from my post last month. Check my other posts for more info.
My general price points for C2S'
2005 - $52K (less than 30k miles - gotta be CPO)
2006 - $63K (less than 20k miles - if 2 years left on warranty, skip CPO)
2007 - $70K (less than 10k miles)
2008 - $79-81K (brand new)
It's crazy that dealers are asking $78K for a 'three year' old car. You can buy a 'new' one for 10% off MSRP which puts a well equipped 2008 C2S in your driveway for about $81K.
That being said I have noticed a very slight drop in prices at a dealership in Texas. Some of these places are in denial about the economy, gas, new 09's etc. My strategy is to wait a couple of months and see where prices go - down I would imagine.
I think if you really like the white one I'd try to get it for 65K- that means offer 63K :-). Just remember some wise words I read on here. Make your offer, tell them you'll be looking for a car and to call you in a month if it's still for sale - you'll take it then if you haven't bought something yet..

Please tell me where I could find a 2005 C2S for 52K CPO. If so I'll buy a second one.
I just bought a 2005 C2S CPO with sport chrono and bose with 8K miles for about 60K. (I'd like to think i got a good deal)
Perhaps they will drop a bit in the coming months with the 2009 coming, but there is still a very strong demand for used 997s.
Perhaps in 6 months or a year that will change, but I don't see the porsche market changing that much, as I have been keeping tabs on it for over 6 months (not much but something).
I think those prices are wishful thinking, but only time will be the judge.
But I do agree with you on your other points, especially the prices of the 2008 being extremly high compared to new, BUT when you buy a 08 CPO you do get 2 extra years warranty, so you have to add that to the equation.
( I heard it costs the dealers $1,500 to $2,000 to get the CPO from Porsche).

I agree on all points except for the 05 prices- a fair price will be in $57-$60k selling range right now w/ under 20k miles (depending on color, options etc), and some come with CPO. At least from what I've seen actually selling.
...Although some dealers are still asking $69k+ for '05, which is a bit crazy.
Red, silver, carmona, prosecco, other oddball paint colors and terracotta or cocoa interiors will get lower prices.
Hey I saw a "ruby red" 08 turbo at Circle Porsche yesterday.. dayymmm that is a HOT color!! i've never seen that color on a pcar before. Wish I had my camera.
Here's a pic- it is a really bad picture, the color looks stunning in person.

I think if you can get a 05 for under 60K (with < 20K miles, no paintwork) pull the trigger. If its CPO then its a very good deal. If you get one under $58K thats a steal.
They may be out there now or when the 2009's come out but remember a lot of these low mile nice cars are being bought by europeans and sent back to the homeland. ($60K USD porsche is = $38,000 Euros. + $4K shipping = $40,000 Euros.)
If I got paid in Euro's right now I would buy a carrera s in a heart beat and have enough money left over for a smaller every day car!
THOSE GUYS IN EUROPE ARE GETTING A STEAL HERE! Porsche dealers are not allowed to sell NEW cars to europe, but they are allowed to sell used cars there. (and the buyer doesn't get CPO so that 2K extra for the dealer.)
Just my .02 cents.
But i still think that the prices may come down A LITTLE in the next 6 months (but i rather drive my car for those 6 months)

He's looking at 06 cars with high miles where one is priced in the high seventies . I found an 08 Demo in white asking low 80's with under 300 miles . http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=41

That's what I'm thinking. Dealers are so deceptive it can be pretty disgusting. How's that for alliteration.
