awe muffler help
ok I just installed awe mufflers on my c4s. I tried to install the stock tips but they wobble all over and wont tighten. I noticed that the pipe off of the muffler is clamped on. Does this mean I need to call mike and get a different size pipe off the muffler? Or does this mean I cant put stock S tips on. Are all the awe cans the same with interchangeable pipe widths for different tips? Your quick reponse is appreciated.

I'm glad that I didn't sell them to you.
I would take a few pictures and then email them to Mike, then call. I had a few questions about the install of something I bought from him, and he was quick to give advice.

Jim,
Just a few days ago I also installed the AWE mufflers. I have the AWE tips but had a similar frustrating issue with fitment. The AWE tips came with an internal "collar" that tightened onto the pipe while the clamp was tightened. Getting all the pieces alligned perferctly wasn't easy but it eventually came together.
What the stock tips might need is this extra collar if not a different size pipe as mentioned in the previous post.
Good Luck. You'll be happy with the results.

Think of me as your exhaust guardian angel....
Sounds like you need AWE tips ($$$) or the 'special' collar to fit OEM 997S tips to the muffler. Appears that your seller sold the tips previously and you just bought the mufflers. Would have been nice if you had known beforehand about the AWE exit pipe diameter.
I'm sure AWE will be happy to sell you the adapters or new tips.

I used a impact wrench to cinch down the OEM tips on the AWE mufflers. The mufflers are the same part # for the 997 and 997S.

I tightened my stock tips to them by hand. I believe there is a 'collar' of sorts already in the stock tips - you are using it, correct? Here's a pic that might assist..

Hello Michael. Tasso and the guys do good work do they not? I am still "breaking in" my AWE cat-back exhaust. Gerry Btw: PM sent

The AWE mufflers did seem to have a "break-in" period of about 100 miles. They sounded more mellow after some use. I would imagine that the catalytics make the overall system louder. I doubt that the headers change the sound much. I agree that Taso does good work.
Any muffler shop can do a tack weld. Cheap insurance, just get it perfectly aligned first.
