Common problem I guess, I had horns go out on my 997S and my Turbo.

Stock horn is inadequate. When the bumper was off for installation of a 3rd radiator, I had a Hella air horn put in. A new, fused wire had to be run to the battery to power it due to the increased current draw. Sounds much better.

My horn is very weedy, I think I'll have the dealer check it out. If it is operating correctly then I think I'll need to change it out for aftermarket.

I thought this was a silly thread until they replaced my horn yesterday while in for annual maintenance.

I put in a mini italian air horn from Griots garage. Louder than stock but it's nothing too crazy.
I highly recommend it!

I'm sure they can. It's very easy...
I did it myself by pulling the front bumper. Locate OEM horns, take them off. Mount the italian air horns... figure out +/- connect wires and that's it.

I may be willing to do it if it's that much better than the non-defective OEM horns and I don't have to add, remove, or fuse any wires.

The horn in my M3 stopped working, i didn't even know until i needed to use it - and after it stopped working completely, well, you really don't realize how much you need/use your horn until it doesn't work at all

My favorite aftermarket horn is the compact, easy to install, and very loud/sweet sounding Stebel Nautilus.
