is it possible to do away with the awd of a targa, and if so how much woiuld something like this cost?

Can it be done? absolutely, however the amount of money that will be spent on labor alone would be enough to justify simply trading in the car for a standard Carrera or Carrera S in my opinion.

Techart makes a awd to 2wd conversion for the Turbo's, perhaps it would work for the Targa. Try calling a Techart Dealer

Which would cost more? Changing the body panels of a c2 to c4 or Awd delete on c4? Just curious.

awd delete on a 993 turbo cost $2k. I think that it's a worthy mod, performance-wise, and will create an unique and desirable car. It will cost you money at resale.

If you have a targa, can't you just "trade down" for a rwd version?

I would think this would be an awfully expensive, non-value change.

So much would have to be changed out, that I think it would make more sense to sell or trade it for a non-AWD.

the 996 turbo guys have been doing this forever now. you should check over there. i don't think it's that expensive or complicated. maybe it's different for the 997's but I doubt it.
