2009 Carrera S vs 2007 Turbo

Please give me your objective & subjective opinions on why you think one is better than the others. No attacking....

2009 S
New model
lots of updates
can order the color I want
can order the options I want
20K cheaper than 07 turbo

2007 Turbo
faster
much easier to mod to make it very fast
probably better value as first 2 years of depreciation are already taken

Thanks

TT for sure as well. I'm getting out of my C2S currently but later when I get another Pcar, it'll be a turbo or GT3 (RS if I am lucky).

but you will lose your warranty and spend almost the same. And it won't retain it's value the way the turbo will

Easy choice. Turbo!!!!

Here's the funniest thing to me. I had this discussion with a neighbor and posted about it awhile back and told him to read 6speed and he did post on the thread too .

My opinion --hands down is the Turbo. I gave my reasons here and these were the replies. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...sed-997tt.html

if the difference in price is no object. turbo without a doubt. if you could find a lightly used example of the TT, i'd still pony up the extra cash.

Amazing...I would not have expected an overwhelming favor towards the turbo. Obviously, price is a factor, which is why I stated the 2007 turbo as a comparison, as a 2009 is out of the question, financially speaking.

At the risk of sounding dumb, for all you people who yelled "Turbo", what are your main reasons for that opinion.

Thanks again for your time.

My reasons -
1) The Turbo has HUGE potential to modify and make suspension and Hp gains at a reasonable cost . I am at 700 Hp .
2) The Gt1 Dry sump engine is not only reliable but probably one of the finest engine blocks placed in a 911 .
3) Once modified it will drive circles arounf a 997S . Even stock it will beat a modded 997S . I know because i had two 997S cars.
4) I like the styling .
5) Many options are "standard" on the Turbo like full leather .

I'll be the first one to swim upstream...

I'd buy the new 2009 997S.

Why?
  1. I'm honestly not a good enough driver to really use the extra capabilities of the turbo.
  2. Sports cars are emotional purchases for me and getting a car exactly how I want it means a lot.
  3. warranty
  4. the extra $20,000 you referenced. Take point one into consideration and me and the lovely Mrs. Asis could take a few kick *** vacations with $20,000 that would add a lot more to my life than the extra power, etc. of the turbo.
But that's just me.

Thanks for this. Just read the entire thread. Everyone's comments make sense and in the end it's a great decision to have to make. I do agree with some of the poster's comments in regards to buying used: there is a certain stigma and subjective issue about getting your dream car EXACTLY the way you want it and in your color and with noone ever touching it. Which is why there is a 30 page order guide with Porsche. Although, a low mileage turbo (4k miles) is barely broken in and after a few years, the warranty is gone on any Porsche. I'll be honest, I'm torn. I really do like the improvements on the 2009 and quite honestly, my 2007 was more than enough power for me, but was sold for other reasons. Put it this way, I would have kept that car for many more years to come if I could have and would have been very pleased with the power. Do you get used to 355hp, 385hp, 480hp, of course. To me the turbo does look better and no question is faster. I doubt I would mod it to more than 600HP as once again, that is so far out of my league and I wouldn't want to endanger mine or other driver's safety.

What's the conclusion? Two weeks ago I didn't even consider a used turbo as my wife and others said, no way you are getting a used car, especially after my 2007 was exactly the way I wanted it at that time. Now, who knows....

I realize I am completely rambling here, but I trust you guys' opinion because most of you have been in this game a lot longer than me. So, please, disregard my obsessive typing disorder and my 200mph brain, and keep the advice coming.
