airbag light with center console removed - fyi
Looks like I learned something new about 997's the hard way.. Do not put your key in the ignition with the center console removed / unplugged. It set off the airbag light. Good times.. Good thing I have Durametric
yup yup.. there's some type of sensor circuit in the console. when i swapped mine out, i disconnected that battery
you should always disconnect the battery when taking anything electrical apart.

so the Durametric resets service / error lights I assume? how much and where can I get one? Thank you in advance.
yep, I just went outside, plugged in my laptop to the OBD port, fired up the Durametric and reset the warning light. piece of cake.
Buy the Enthusiast version from www.durametric.com - If you have questions call Duram (owner), he is super nice guy.

What's nice about this software is you can use it to check out a prospective car before buying. It shows recorded overrevs and how many times the engine has seen redline. Very handy!
Is this a one time thing, turn it off once with the tool and it stays off? I replaced my stock seats (with air bag) with race seats and now my air bag light is on. I could care less about the air bags, but will I have to reset the light every time I fire it up now? If so, I will yank the bulb. BTW, I now have the same thing for my seat belt light. Will it work for that too?
yep, should reset all lights- but they will come on again each time as long as they remain unplugged. You'll have to yank the bulb. Maybe this is something the dealer can turn off in the software?
The seatbelt light is a circuit completion check. perhaps jumping the pins in the seatbelt plug might resolve that issue.

Great info indeed.
I don't yet own a Porsche; I am dealing with just "basic" transportation!
It is always great to know in advance what is available for a particular vehicle, and it is great to be able to do things bu one's self.
Prior to buying my 360 I spent considerable time learning what was what and in particular what would throw codes and CEL's.
Interesting to know that you can learn a vehicle's prior history electronically. That is very valuable.
I presume this is exactly how manufacturer's learn about issues to deny warranty claims!
