2008 997>2009 997?

with the upgrades of the 2009 997 namely, DFI(direct fuel injection) and the PDK double clutch transmission, will the 2009 997 be a better buy? or, is it better to just get the 2008 997 with the discounts the double clutch is obviously a plus with the guaranteed faster shift response vs a torque converter and faster acceleration times. But with the direct injection comes better fuel mileage, any worries on fuel sludging with the direct injection?

New tech in both better to wait it out a year IMO.

If you want an auto go with the new one though.

They've had the direction injection in the V6 Cayenne for a whole model year now. We have 20K miles on ours. No problems.

And maybe I'm a geek, but I do think the PCM 3 with bluetooth, and IPOD hookups is a pretty nice upgrade as well. Granted this is a sports car, but if your everyday car too, these things make driving a little nicer especially if you're stuck in CA traffic

New tech things that concern me in the first year;

Completely new engine and the new transmission.

My next 911 will be a 2010 bought in late 2011 or 2012.

Next time I will let somebody else have the bulk of the depreciation, unless I just get the bug and I can't help myself.

amen to that. I'm going to wait as well. Let's see how the 'new' Carrera S stands the test of time.

I thought the new engine was lighter, lower, and with fewer moving components?
