Spacer Question

I did a search on spacers and I see a lot of people running 7mm/15mm front and rear. But all the posts I noticed were for the 4 or 4s. Is the same size recommended for the 2s? Thanks.

I have the 5mm/15mm on my C2S and they bring my Classics to almost flushed with the fender. I calculate the offsets to be 52mm F and 52mm R.

I have 7mm F and 15mm R with my lobsters (common size) - I'm going to put 18mm's on the rear to bring it out a tad farther, there's still some room- Could probably go 21mm spacers but no one makes them.

I have 7/15 on my C2S, do a search "wheels spacers installed", I posted a bunch of photo's. I wouldn't go any wider in the rear, but you might be able to go wider in the front.

NorthVan- Interesting, it looks like your stock classic wheels sit out about 3mm-5mm farther with the 15mm spacers than my lobsters - I still have a bit more room than you do.

Be very careful about going too positive in rear offsets because you are moving the vehicle mass further away from the center support of the wheel bearing.

And you are asking your wheel bolts to do a great deal of work.

Make certain you purchase brand new wheel bolts with the spacers, and then hand torque those bolts with a torque wrench to Porsche specs.

No air guns!

Thx for the tip on that. IIRC Porsche offers a 17mm spacer, so 18mm should be ok.

19 mm is .75". That's quite a bit. So 18 is just under that.

Make sure you order new bolts with 18-19 mm additional length.

I know that H & R has spacers and wheel bolts. They can provide everything you need.

Remember to hand torque them-every bolt!

The wheels are the same offset, I don't see how there would be such a large difference between wheels.

Excellent points, I bought new bolts for both sizes. They are cheaper then the cost of repairing your car if the stock bolt brakes due to too little bite.

I know that Damon at Tirerack sells these at a very good price.

Porsche offers the 17mm spacer to be used with a rear wheel with a 67mm offset so that it fits properly on the C4 widebody. I'm sure you can use it on the narrowbody C2 as others have but you're going to push the wheel out pretty far.

Bolts are cheap and replacing them after frequent wheel removals is good practice.

Don't use impact wrenches. They over torque the bolts and stress them.

If you want good bolts at a decent price try: http://www.lawheel.com/

They know what they are talking about, decently priced, and very helpful on the phone.

If you want really great bolts, I have titanium Porsche bolts coming in which are similar to what we will be carrying for Ferrari. They are not cheap, but they are light weight, extremely strong, and very classy!

According to the Porsche site -
  • Wheel Spacers
Wheel spacers create a wider track for enhanced stability and presence on the road (4x5mm) or compensate for wheel offset (2x17mm). When fitted, the wheels run virtually flush with the body of the car. Extended wheel bolts and anti-theft protection included.

Not compatible with snow tires.
4x5mm spacers not compatible with 19-inch Carrera Sport Wheel.
2x17mm spacers for Carrera 4/4S, Targa 4/4S and Turbo with 19-inch Carrera Sport wheel on rear axle only.
  • Not compatible with snow tires. 2x17mm wheel spacers for Carrera 4/4S, Targa 4/4S and Turbo with 19-inch Carrera Sport Wheels on rear axle only:
    Part no. 000 044 500 10
Has anyone used spacers with their 19" Turbo wheels? I was thinking about ordering them, but if they can't be used with the 19" Turbo wheels...no need to complicate things.
