Seat Removal

Do I need a special tool to remove the bolts for my front seats? Where can I find one?

You need a torx socket, but I can't recall the size.

Ha ha...I just went through this BS. Guess what? Try a 3/8" socket with an extension and a good LONG handle (they are tight) ratchet. Believe it or not, the 3/8" fits perfect! I just installed a set of Sparco DTM's in my TT. Party on!

I will give it a try. I got a set of porsche sports seats and was going to make a quick upgrade from the standard seats.

It is not that hard to swap the seats. Just make sure you slide off the seat bolt covers carefully and use the right torx. The hardest part of the job is moving the stock seats out of the car as they are heavy. There is a good segment showing the install in the DIY section on rennlist for a 996, but it is near identical on a 997.

When you remove the std seats, does the airbag light go on? if so does the service centre need to reset this?
