Turbo Wheels Or New Carrera S 2 Wheels ??
Turbo Wheels Or New Carrera S 2 Wheels ??
I am ordering a black / black 2009 c4s and cannot seem to find a good picture of the car with the new wheels. Any photos ??? I feel that since the car is not a turbo I shoiuldn't get turbo wheels. Whats your opinion?
Below are two options:
1. Go to www.porsche.com. You can configure your C4S, with the Carrera type II S or Turbo wheel and see what they would look like on the car. You can view it from different angles, but doesn't have the "true" 360 degree viewing function (which I prefer). There are probably other photos on the web, just do a quick search (via Google or other search engine).
2. Go to you nearest Porsche dealer and pick up the new 911 catalog. I just picked mine up this past Friday (in CT, they just received the new books in the morning). I'd call you nearest dealer(s) to see if they have them in yet. There are pictures in there as well.

Get the wheels you want, it's simply a matter of preference. Just because it's not a Turbo doesn't mean that you shouldn't have the Turbo wheels - if you like the look (same argument as GT3 aerokits, etc). Now if you put an S badge on a non-S Carrera, that's a different story! The wheels are similar to the Turbo, but the Turbo has an extra blade in the middle of each of the 5 spokes. My 2 cents.

You may also want to get the stock wheels (no extra cost) and buy a set of aftermarket wheels.
Very wise. That seems like a great idea.
And, if you're as OCD as I am, pick the ones the are easier to clean!!!!

agree...get the wheels that are somewhat easy to clean...the sport design is not so easy...the turbo wheel looks easier than the sport desgin...the new carrera s wheel looks easier yet...a side note about the new carrera s wheel...looks to be styled more for a Ferrari than a Porsche but that might not be the case in person...my .02....I just switched the sport design wheels on my 2006 c4s to carrera sports this weekend...so much easier as the sports hide the break dust build up...
good luck on the build...what options are you looking at?

Ahh, another in the OCD club (that is NOT a criticism BTW). I suspect 1/2 the Porsche-philes are of the same ilk. My (2005) C2SCab has the standard wheels (I think that someone referred to them as the lobster/claw/crab or something). They are pretty hard to clean the face of the wheel. What is easy (and impossible on the turbo wheel I believe) is to reach inside the wheel and clean the inside of the rim. I didn't think that mattered much - until I cleaned them. They make the car look new. So if you care, look for a design that allows you to get your arm in there and clean the disk assembly and all.
