Considering a 2006 C2S - Know this one?
I'm going to sell my 996tt for a newer, under warranty 997. Anybody know this car? What do you think of this price? They said they'd add a CPO for $3k which I guess any dealer would do.
http://usedcars.kbb.com/fyc_b/vdp.js...ealer_id=72542
I'm looking for one that has these features:
Required:
1) Aerokit
2) 6-speed
3) Sport chrono plus - required (I assume sport mode can't be added?)
4) Heated seats
5) CPO warranty
Nice to have:
1) Adaptive sport seats, preferably in ext. color - nice to have
2) Navi - nice to have
3) center console, gauges, trim, etc in ext color - nice to have
Anybody care to offer what a good price would be for this? I'd also be willing to get a 2007 if it's under $10k additional.
What other features should I be looking for? Anything essential?

Just to give you some reference. I just got a 06 C2S for 61,700.
with:
9200k miles
Atlas Grey Metallic
Nav
Heated Seats
Sport Exhaust
Bose
Porsche crest at seats and wheels
The difference is I got it from a used car dealer, not a Porsche dealer so unfortunately no CPO.

Let me ask you this - I had a used car dealer tell me I could bring the car to a porsche dealer for a CPO warranty, but I thought that only applied to cars purchased from a Porsche dealer. True or false?
I called Porsche about this. My car was CPO in April 2008. Apparently, when the car leaves the "Porsche family" (aka sold outside of the dealership) the warranty no longer stands and can never be available to get certified again.
So the answer is False.
Makes me feel like the ugly step child of the "Porsche Family"

this car was sold in 5/06, which means factory warranty will still apply for the next 1.5 yrs (through 5/10). CPO obviously would extend that another 2, but just a heads up that if you plan on swapping it w/in 2 years, it will be less of an issue (though not having it may hurt resale).
i just bought an '06 C2S for $61k w/ factory warranty through 2010.
seal gray
23k miles
bose
power + heated seats
sport chrono
nav
I will say that my car probably needs another $2-3k of reconditioning to get it "like new" though.

If this car were $61k, I'd ****** it up right now. They are charging a premium for the aerokit and sport seats - for what I can tell aerokit should be worth only a couple thousand in resale, but cars with it seem to be fetching a whole lot more.
So two questions
1) should I buy the CPO or is 2 years of factory warranty enough piece of mind - they want $3k for the CPO
2) what would be a reasonable offer on this car? ie, the lowest possible without being insulting and fyi, i'll be paying with a certifed check so no financing.
thanks

1.) i think this really depends on how long you plan on keeping it. look to your experience w/ your 996 turbo to see how much lack of warranty (or only after-market warranty) affected your purchase decision/peace of mind.
2.) i'd say a fair price for this, assuming it's in great condition, is $65-66k or so. that's not "wow what a bargain price" but that's probably fair. mid-$60's is what '06 C2S are generally going for at pcar dealership, and this one is nicely optioned assuming they're all your cup of tea (i think guards red, aerokit, and black wheels are a little shouty for a lot of prospective buyers).
i will say though, that if you're not going to get a CPO, then buying from a non-porsche dealer will save you a good $5k or so, all things being equal. another thing i'll tell you is that your aerokit requirement is really going to limit your options. granted, buying one from suncoast + installation is going to run you $6k minimum i'm guessing, but in your search don't forget that "everything has a price" and aerokit at the max can only be worth that.
you may want to try contacting parin at chicago motor cars. he helped me find my car and has helped other 6speeders as well. he may actually be local to you as well (judging from the other car you posted).

Not a bad price, if you like the car and feel a connection with it I'd say go for it. See if you can get the dealer to throw in free (or at least come down 60%) on the CPO as a "deal closer".
Remember, these cars are not moving quickly lately so there may be some motivation on the dealer's side to move it. Plus, the aerokit also limits the number of possible buyers- Not everyone wants the aerokit on their pcar.

$65-66k is what I was thinking too, but a quick check on NADA says retail these are fetching $73k.. and KBB says $72.5k so are they out of date now? Has the market softened since these numbers were released?
they also are useless in transition times (e.g. like now, when a new model year has just come out).
The CPO warranty should cost you no more than 1,990. Just FYI. As far as cost of the car goes KBB and NADA and Edmunds for that matter are only information sites. They don't trade, buy or sell actual cars so you can only take the information with a grain of salt. The market place is what drives prices. The value of any car is what someone is willing to pay for it. If you like the car and it is clean of paint work, work your best deal and enjoy the car. The beauty of Porsche is you will not see many with the same options. When someone says you should be able to get it for XYZ price. Factor in things like how are the tires, brakes, Porsche Certified and condition of car. Offer the dealer about 5K off the asking price plus you paying the 1,990 for the CPO. See what happens. If they say no, ride it out a day or two and see if they call you back. If not you know the offer they gave back to you was the bottom. For this to work you need to be willing to loss the car if someone else comes along and wants it more than you.
Another thing about the CPO warranty you CAN NOT get it unless you purchase it from a Porsche Dealership. As of August 1st you now get the same warranty the car had when new total of 6 years 100,000 miles. If you buy a CPO vehicle from an individual it will transfer. If you buy a CPO car from any dealer other than a Porsche Dealership it is canceled. Good luck in getting your car.

I saw this car, too. Great car, I hope you get it.
If it's not too late, I would play the black wheels and the aerokit against them. Even though you love it I might tell them it's a little "in your face" and you're not sure if you like it or not. May be too late for that strategy, but a little doubt in their minds always helps. Also, consider they probably have end of month sales goals to meet, so the later in the month it gets, the more they might work with you. It may even be end of quarter for them. Plus, the '09s are coming out and this will get pushed down a rung. I would also use this one against them, http://usedcars.kbb.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?...=&cardist=1063it's the same car w/ 1/2 the mileage and only $1100 more + it's an individual that would be more willing to deal. Just some thoughts.
I have a question, though.....They have this car on the CPO search on Porscheusa.com. From that, my assumption would be that the CPO is part of the $69,900 price. Is that not true? Are they wanting to add another $3k on top for the CPO? Seems a bit misleading to me.
