997 prices, how are they?
My good friend is looking into getting a 997 soon before the Cali sales tax hike. How are prices now? I'd think even an 09 would be discounted and 08's really discounted. Is this factual? Has anyone gotten one lately?
08's are going for 10k to 12k under MSRP or very close to invoice and so are 09's for that matter. In Cali its going to be a little tougher to get the great discounts however Porsche San Diego has several 08's discounted down about 10-12K. I was going to move on a 08 C2 but decided the smarter thing to do was go for a 06 C2S with low miles. Either way the 997.1 value is dropping quickly now that the 997.2's are out.

Agree, went for an 06 as well. As soon as you drive an 08 and the stealership is in your review mirror, you pretty much may as well own an 06 with low miles...other than the warranty...which you add from the same underwritter as porsche..for $1200.00 adds 4 more years...or 60k miles, I think if your going 997.1 might as well get the first 2 1/2 depreciation past you.
I got my 2007 C2S 3 months ago. It was an unsold new car. The sticker on it was $92,000 but after talking to the salesman and floor manager for a couple days, going back and forth, I got it for $14,000 off the sticker price, and had a few small goodies thrown in too. Dealers don't want unsold cars on their floor, so they will deal on them but you have to be willing to negotiate. No matter what Porsche says, they are feeling the economic crunch too, and there are some deals to be had. Just keep checking for deals and eventually you will find one.
Curious: Can you buy this extended warranty without going through a dealer? Who is the underwriter?
Private Party car..had checked out at dealer before I bought it, who then offered the warranty through the same underwritter that writes Porsches CPO's..I will have to look for my policy, it's at my other house...will PM once I find it.

From what I have seen most 06 C2S are going for 63-69 depending on options and miles. C4S's are going for about 8-10K over that. However, I have seen a couple high optioned 06 C4S for the low 70's....

I recently looked at a gorgeous C2S cab, 12000 miles, midnight blue with full leather (gray), Nav, power seats, SC, full clear bra etc. available for $65.9k. It was immaculate, yet no offers. There is another one in LA area for close to same price. With negotiation, I expect they could be purchased for 63 to 65k. It is not a good time to sell, but a great time to buy.

If you have the $$$ get get the 09. Besides the obvious, PDK and 30 more horses. Many other nice touches on the 997.2 - Touch screen NAV, launch mode, etc. If that's no big deal, then save yourself the 50K and get a low miles 06.
I did not research much into CAB prices as I I am not a big fan of CABs. However, from what I have seen the CABs do not demand much of a premium. Maybe 2-4k or maybe no premium at all depending on location.
