Installing a Supercharger in a country with poor quality of gas

Hi,

I am located in Morocco and purchased the Supercharger. I am now waiting from a recommended mechanic by VF Engineering to come from Paris, France to do the installation.

However I had a discussion with a friend that got me worried. He actually mentionned that installing the supercharger on my 997s would be a waste especially that we only have one quality of gas which is 95 RON (89-91 US equivalent).

I also asked Delius @ VF Engineering and he replied the following:
"In short, The superchargers are calibrated to minimum of 91 octane gas. The ECU is calibrated to the contrary that the car is in. The beauty of our product is we do not disconnect or delete any stock components. Our number one goal at VF-Engineering is efficiency. We build our software around the stock ECU so the car can adapt to its surroundings. That was a great question."

Please advise

I think that it will improve your performance, you would be better off with 91 of 94 (like my car gets), enjoy the SC.

Even if you get an extra-poor tank of gas the knock sensors will retard the timing to compensate for the bad fuel but not by the ~150 HP you will gain from the SC. Your car already does this and you will still be WAY ahead of your stock performance.

I am not worried about the performance but more about damaging my engine.

We only have 91 octane where I live, and I have a supercharger. Granted, I put 100 in it on track days. But I've never had an issue.

I truly think that if Delius says it'll be ok, it'll be ok.

You can use Torco Race Fuel concentrate from Torco race fuels. Here is the link.

http://torcoracefuels.com/component/...art/Itemid,32/

I have actually used this product and have seen people with great results using the Torco Race Fuel Concentrate Mach Accelerator. 1 32. Ounce bottle with 16 gallons of 91 octane fuel will get you to about 94 octane.

I have seen a Vorteched 700rwhp Vette use this stuff with great results. From my own experience it was almost on par with running a race gas blend.

You can run less quality gas but you will have to have the car tuned less aggressively if you don't run the better gas.

As I only the car on weekends and to have some fun ... I have heard about methods to add tholuene/xylene in my gas tank. I am sure that will avoid the ECU from acting on the engine and losing power.

We usually bring in a few barrels of VP racing during track days in Bahrain. A 40/60 mix usually brings the octane up to 98 RON (94 US).

Fuel additive will definitely, my friends drove Hong Kong 996TT, GT3-RS in China (with bad fuel) and with the additive - we can see noticeable improvement !! One can per tank of gas, it only cost USD4/can.
