transmission issue --- NEED HELP
transmission issue --- NEED HELP
Hi everyone
I was driving my car in 3rd gear down shifted to 2nd give more gas almost redlined it and then tried to shift to 3rd gear but I couldn't. It felt like my foot was not on the clutch. slowed down and tried to push the gear stick hardy to engage it in 2nd gear and drive slowly home. what I noticed beside not be able to shift is
1) the clutch pedal get heavier right before the last quarter when I push it all the way down. it's like opening the door and how it get heavier and lighter in different angles
2) the car tend to move when it's in 1st gear even though my foot on the clutch
I turned off and start the car again same problems. If the engine is off you can go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd with no problems. once I start it issue is back
I called porsche road assistance they came and picked up my car within an hour and took it to the dealer
Dealer called me next day and what they said is they have to take the whole transmission off to know what's going on but it could be your clutch need to be replaced.
anyone had same issue before or have any experience what's going on ? any help would be appreciate it
thanks & excuse my english

I wouldn't be surprise if it's the clutch because in San Francisco I shortened the clutch life time significantly
I was totally nerves from getting into car accident because of the hills there and then miss the gumball rally. When I stopped everyone noticed the smell of my clutch but I put more than 2000 miles after that with no problems so I thought it might be something else.

A hilly environment will definitly shorten the life of a clutch, track usage (harder driving), and of course inexperience or abuse will shorten it's life. Clutch replacement is not covered under warranty.

Ouch, I'm picturing you sitting on steep hills in SF, riding your clutch to keep the car in place. Burn baby burn. In this recent incident, it sounds like you did something in that shift from 3rd to 2nd, after which it didn't function properly if I understood your explanation properly.
I usually try my beast and I have never lunched the car hardly. I try not to exceed 1100 RPM when I move from rest
would you recommend replace it with aftermarket clutch or go with OEM. I'm thinking about light flywheel if it's not going to cost me a lot
I just bought a LWFW from FVD, very good price. If I need to replace my clutch, I will use a stock clutch again. There is no guaranty that a third party clutch will improve life, and since you haven't added more power you should be fine with stock. It is up to you.
