Question OT - Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe

Since a two or three year old one [low mileage] costs about the same amount as a new [properly equipped] C2S Coupe, I have started to do some research on them.

People that own/have owned them and or are familiar with them...

Pros?

Cons?

Suggestions?

Thoughts?

Discuss!

I own one, outside of the attention it gets, there are no cons, an amazing car to drive.

How does it compare [handling/acceleration/braking] to a C2S Coupe?

Are the insurance/maintenance/parts costs similar?

Does the front end have a "raise feature" [to clear steep driveways]?

If you are above 6' tall, how much headroom do you have in it?

Does it have similar stability/traction control systems [I noticed that it has AWD]?

It is faster and handles better than a 997S, it costs more to maintain, seats are not as comfortable, and even a slight accident can cost 30 to 50K to repair. The lift feature is on later model cars. You are fine if you are 6', you should drive one, then decide.

Very different cars . I'll hijack a quote said on the 997tt forum "the Lambo is like the bi polar supermodel and the Porsche is more like a wife" .

With Porsche repairs are clearly outlined for technicians but with Lambo and Ferrari the Italion service manuals and parts delivery system are very different . Even getting my Tubi exhaust it was "on a boat from Italy and we just don't know when it will get here" .

As for driving .. best sounding engines anywhere and quite fun to drive .
Mileage adds up and they depreciate dramatically with miles.

Park one on the street and see finger prints all over it and little half moon circles from people looking in the windows .

The LP560 is very fast . Faster than a 997S . Even faster than a stock Turbo .
A Gt2 might take it (close). A modded Turbo will walk it if it has some serious engine work done.

It takes about 700 Hp to play the LP560's game.

Straight line comparisons.

Mel -I want to show you something . Look at how fast the new LP560 is compared to older SE . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYo4zlmg9EY

This Lambo will take a Turbo (stock) .
Straight line its very close to Gt2 (Lambo wins in the two videos looks close ) --forward to 1.26 . white lambo looks nice too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkn5Fww4d9c

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdPY1Ka0kWk (another Vs Gt2 forawrd to 1 min)

Against a modded 997tt .
Depends on the mods . A 700 will take it in a straight line .

The newer car is quite impressive .

Mel -That's an 06 with 11K miles .
I am talking about a new one . The new LP560 model .
The old model is not like this . It looks the same but isn't . Even a stock 997tt will beat it but the new car is a beast .in comparison.

Figure nicely equipped it may cost about 250 (maybe less -- https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...rice-list.html )

Estimates --
Trade in the 08 C2S = 75
The Lambo = 250

175 plus tax plus your car.

I do not think you will be very comfortable in a Gallardo. So far I have done quite a bit to the car, stock exhaust (been changed), is very heavy (75lbs), and very very resrictive, and with new exhaust, filters, and an ecu tune, you can get it easily to lp560 hp numbers. The early cars were the lightest, and other than the very early ones that had clutch problems, to me at least are the perfect choice to mod a play with. My car is being fitted with the LP560 bumper, and the Hamaan side skirts and rear spoiler. I also have Maya wheels, and have lowered the car. they are goos buys if you want a car like this, but keeps in mind that a no stories good car will still cost at least 115k, that is twice what a used 997S would cost. I always advise people to look carefully into these cars beffore jumping in, some some like me who live 10 minutes from my Ferrari dealer, and have shops that know my cars, and can do anything I ask them to do, ownership is a great experience, that is not the case for everyone. Good luck

He is about same height as you.

04-05 G are not going to be alot faster than stock 997C2S. My chipped 996TT walked a 04 G. Front lifter, 520hp and shorter gear introduce from 06 and it was great improvement with performance. Before 06 they do have clutch problem with 6 speed and G-gear. So is better to with a 06 G.
