09 C4S hard to get?
Thanks, and I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Just to be a bit more clear on the subject. I checked about 50 dealers across the country and verified with a couple dealership people on this forum - there are not very many 2009 C4S coupes on lots right now and not a single new 2009 C4S RED one anywhere in the US and only one being built right now in the factory.
I realize that my figures could be off since I didn't do an exhaustive searc - however, it's clear that Red 911s are extremely hard to find and C4S coupes in general are not very common - many dealers don't have even one and the largest dealers in the country have less than 3-4.
That said, I've decided not to take the deal I was offered (8% off list and $63K for my car) - the cost of trading in my C4S would be about $35K and it just isn't worth it to get bluetooth, ipod connection and full leather - the 3 things my car is missing.
I've offered to do the deal if I can get the difference down to $25K and they've already closed the gap to about $30K but a guy has to have his limits right?
My plan now is to keep my 07 C4S and re-visit an 2009 or 2010 later next year. With the $30K I'd spend to upgrade I may go ahead and add a used Z4 M-roadster or Miata to the garage...

Interesting post and it sounds like you gave a lot of thought to the decision. From what I understand most of the launch cars came in specific color . For example a whire/gray base coupe with PDK was an entry level 997 car . A meteor C4S with sport bucket seats was also one . Red was not one of the "launch" colors so you are correct in its rare presence at this time.
Also keep this in mind that you mention three things but the things not mentioned are worth considering too . The 09 car has axle lock , dfi, and PDK . It is an upgraded car even though its appearance changes are minor .
Keeping your car is always an financially sound decision but then again buying a Porsche in the first place is not exactly an economical path . It's more emotional than anything I can't help but walk away from this feeling like that saleman had the chance to show you a great car and make it fun and he failed .
You win either way . Either you save money , or get a great car no matter how it goes.

Decision made...I bought the new 2009 C4S and I love it. It has a few more features than my 07 had - ipod, bluetooth, full leather (not standard) and it feels more refined and slightly better in every way over my 07.
I was on my way to look at a slightly used Z4 M-roadster and realized (drivng my 07 C4S) that nothing else I could find would compare and that just had to stick with the 911.
This marks the 6th Porsche I've bought from the same dealer and salesmen (5 911s) in just a few years so I they know me pretty well and gave me a pretty good deal (11% off plus a few $K more for my 07).
Thanks to all the advice and insight on this forum and in this thread (along with my Miata Vs 911 thread). What did it for me was that I drove my C4S to test drive other cars and nothing came close to the confidence inspiring sublime drivability of the 911 - it's a joy to drive, fast or slow.
Thanks again...Scott
