09 C4S hard to get?
09 C4S hard to get?
I'm considering trading in my 07 C4S for an 09 in order to get the new electronics and a couple options. My dealers is telling me that the C4S will be hard to get in 2009 due to restricted 4S allocations. Has anyone else heard any of this about the 4 wheel drive S version of the 911 (not cab or targa, just plain hartop)?...

Shop around too. He does not seem to want to sell that car to you for some absurd reason.
While Porsche has said themselves they are slowing production to balance with lowered demand, "hard to get" is a overstatement by that dealer. I doubt you will have any trouble getting the order you want placed - or finding something on a lot that is ready to go - albeit maybe not with all the options you want.
Either way - I would not be buying a new or used C4S right now without getting a heck of a deal. I would start with a build of what you want from Porsches website and use the inventory search tool as others have suggested - and if you can't find enough of what you want - order one - I don't think you will find it hard to get them to take your deposit on your order.

just did a quick search of all the dealers in the Southeast and found very few 2009 C4S coupes...I couldn't figure out how to search for all specific inventory at all dealers on Porsche.com - it wasn't intuitively obvious...

I have found very few dealerships who keep their online inventory 100 percent up to date . I suggest calling a few.
Nearly everyone has at least one . It's that salesman at the original posters dealership who is playing the doubt card . It makes no sense to me when dealerships do this .
It's not just his Porsche dealership . My M3 is a more rare car than other 3 series and so is my Honda Si . When I bought the Honda I was actually standing with a salesman in front of FOUR Si cars and they adamantely tried to sell me any other color except the one I wanted (black) . I finally just pointed at the car and said "look that's the car I want .Either sell it to me for an acceptable price or I'll leave " .
I became friends with him afterwards too . Sometimes it takes a little backbone to get the right car for the right price .

Tell the salesman he can have your business if he can find a car to your spec, delivered within 3 months guaranteed. With cars on the ground at other dealers he can trade with, and open slots that they might have that he can trade with, there's every reason to try and win your business. If he can't guarantee it in writing then go elsewhere. Other hungrier sales guys will work their a**es off to win your business, so don;t accept a slacker.
