im curious if any of the c4s guys on here realized they made a terrible horrible unspeakable mistake of getting an awd porsche, and did the rwd conversion ?

is it possible on the 997 ?

Oh heaven's no...

Maybe the older 996 variant suffered with AWD, but the 997 AWD behaves nicely and allows you to let the tail loose. Acceleration does not suffer either.

I think that Techart makes a kit for the 997 TT to convert to a car that handles like more like a GT2. I guess the same work could be done to a C4S. I would just trade in the C4S on a C2S if you really wanted the RWD version.

A local guy to me did this on his Turbo. He loves it and the car is faster in 2wd mode at the track.

So the acceleration limiting factor at all speeds/circumstances is traction? So much so that 100lb is less of a hindrance? Interesting.

I did it on both 996tt's I had, though I think the 997 awd does work better.

I love you too!

But I think you would be insane to convert a c4 to a RWD when the product exists. I can see the desire on the turbo as there is no RWD available other then the GT2. But I guess it is possible as long as some one is willin to pay for it.

A C4 would be a total waste of $, the question you are asking makes about the same amount of sense as converting a tip to a 6 speed manual!

From new only with lots of money will justify any conversion, but if you are looking in the used market, i would considered also a widebody C2S. Which is cheaper, to convert AWD to RWD or narrow to widebody?

The C2 is only 1.5" narrower then a C4 body, the GT3 is a narrow body, the GT3RS is a widebody. I have heard that the parts alone for the conversion is about $10000, add the labour and you have to ask the question, why for only 1.5" inches. If your buddy has that kind of money to burn, to buy a GT3RS.

This is probably a better solution, less chance of mechanical problems due to conversion, and then you could make the body a little wider then a stock C4.
