Don't be too concerned with high milage on these cars, they stand the test of time very well.

I was concerned with my 911 when I bought it in September. I traded in my brand spanking new '08 Cayman S which I bought new from the factory for over $85k (it had *everything*) back in September '07. I traded it in a year later against my current 997 C2S in September of '08 and only got $50k back for it (I'd done 14k in it)

This 911 C2S I bought had almost all of the options I had on my CS including an AWE muffler from the previous owner. It was a CPO car but it had one issue, it had 21.5k miles on it.... I decided another 7k miles wasn't a big deal since the deal I was getting on the 911 was staggering, I only had to add a little over $15k and I needed the rear seats badly!

I've been agonising about the miles it's likely to have when I come to trade it in in about 2/3 years since I do a good 15-20k a year (it's my daily driver) but I figure that once I break 50k miles anyway, what's another $5k depreciation for going to 60/70k miles. The cars themselves are bombproof, you'll get an easy 100k out of these without anything majorly expensive if you have the CPO. So now I just take the view that I should just enjoy the miles I do put on it and stop worrying I'm hoping I'll get $30-35k back for it with around 60k miles on it which means I'll have spent less than $1 a mile, well worth it IMO

Hi all... just wanted to get opinions on this car....

http://porsche.niello.com/details.php?id=15232

It's very clean with only a few little rock chips and a tiny little license plate dent which they said they would fix for me. It drives nicely. I could feel the difference between the s and the non s but it wasn't huge. Really like the wheels and the look of speed yellow in person. They will not budge on price. Other CPOs within 300 miles of here are priced a bit higher. Should I pull the trigger. I left the dealer about half an hour ago and they claimed others were coming to look at the car.

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I think you should be able to get a 05 C2 cheaper than that. Have you done a nationwide search on AutoTrader for that model to see some comparative asking prices? In November I saw a local C2 in GT silver, with about 24k miles, with adaptive sport seats, GIAC chip, aftermarket intake, full leather, PASM, "S" brakes, xenons, 19" wheels, etc. for around $47k in OC. It was a private deal with no CPO. The market has slipped further since then. I would expect pricing in the low to mid 40's by now for a C2 like the one you're looking at. But if you really have to have that one, and the DME is good, go for it.

It's amazing how things change. It's definitely the best priced cpo within 300 miles of here. There are some minor scratches on the front bumper and a tiny dent. I would get bumper plugs. They also said they would do a wheel repair for me. The other car I was looking at was a carmon red CPO at the dealer. Very bad condition. It had been a commuter car with lots and lots of rock chips (most badly touched up) . This car was superclean. I may pull the trigger.

It's not an S and speed yellow is actually a color which tends to price less . Miles are good . Price is a bit high but with a CPO and the base coupe being the entry level 997 the market holds the "we won't budge" bottom line very strong.

Are you absolutely certain that you can live without it being an S ? It would bother me to no ends that's why I ask.

Doesn't really bother me that it's not an S. The autotrader search hasn't really yielded any better deals than this one... particularly for CPO. Car is super clean and drove nicely. It honestly didn't feel a whole lot different from the S (albeit the dissapointing one) that was listed at the dealer as CPO. That car was a huge letdown. This car kind of spoke to me. I don't know... tough choice.

If it spoke to you, and your search hasn't turned up anything better, I'd seriously consider getting it if the DME checks out. My first 05 C2S cab "spoke" to me and I didn't regret getting it. Good luck and keep us informed of your progress.

I want you to be happy with the final choice . The only one who can answer this is you --but cars don't speak to people . Based on my experience and even reading the posts here most people who have the non S have lingering thoughs about the S . The visa versa is not the case despite the price disparity .

You are in good hands and the car ought to provide years of happiness . Is this your first Porsche ?
I happen to prefer speed yellow over carmon red .

Ok --here's my final thought before you jump in .Lets say you buy it , come home and do cartwheels in your front lawn and after 10 months or so you love this car so much that you break down and want a new one . Maybe it will be worth 8 or 9 K less so I think it's a GO!!!!!!

Buy it !!!!!!!

Thanks to all for the great advice. Dealer will call with DME results tomorrow. I'll have them fax me a copy. The speed yellow just jumps out at you. It's better in person... pictures don't do it justice. Black interior is sharp. Drove the car twice. I don't think it has PASM but has standard PSM. I didn't notice a huge difference in the throttle response with sport button on or off. Yrralis1... you make a good point. If it works out, but I feel like I'm ready to try something faster in a few months I could easily go ahead and order either the c2 or c2s verision of the 997.2 or even wait for the next generation (everyone in media calls it 998 though I've seen some call it 991 here) This car did feel quicker and more responsive than my zcp e46 M3. Very different feel with the rear engine and significantly less weight. When I had ordered my wife an e90 M3 sedan, one of my misgivings was that it felt quite heavy and while the DCT felt nice... I couldn't really push it as it was a non demo dealer car.

They did agree to fix a few tiny dents and scratches on the front and to fix 2 of the wheels which have minor scratches. I'll get the order for bumper plugs out asap if it comes home. I guess we'll see. Thanks again for the great advice. If it works out (pending DME), I'll try to get both cars clean and ready for a photo shoot.

Thanks a bunch for all the help. Unfortunately... before I could get to the dealer another salesperson sold it. Miscommunication issues. Probably better. My wife really thought I got too excited for this car and probably was settling for the non S non pasm model. Oh well... the hunt is back on. Have some prospects I will be checking out this weekend... and thanks to all you guys already have clean a clean DME report on the first prospect. The has zeros across the board from range 1 to 6.

You gotta be kidding . Last night I saw it missing on the dealership website and I thought for sure that you drove it home and was going to post pictures .

I still think you get the S . I've said it all along .

Oh well... it was a bizarre story. I thought they were doing the paperwork and apparently they thought I was still unsure because I hadn't had a chance to do the online credit app. Well... like my wife said it's probably better to wait and get the S. What do you guys think about 4S models? There a few CPO down in so cal and across the west. I'm intrigued by the all wheel drive. One of my best friends has a cousin-in-law who drives professionally and his thought was that most of us mortals wouldn't really drive the car at the limits were a 4s and 2s would be distinguishable. I know the purists would prefer the 2s. If I have any possibilities I will let you guys know. I've found this forum to be an invaluable source of info.

I like the 4S and i saw that seal grey one too (lol) if that's what you are looking at . I looked at the region to see.
But my feeling is that if you really want AWD would you consider a Turbo?
In the for sale section a forum member is asking 89K . I don't know him or the car . I think the car has 11K miles and 3K miles away from you.
The white Turbo at your dealership --different story. That car is immaculate and has less than 5K miles.

I do think that the base coupe is nice but if you end up in an S , a C4S or a Turbo .. you will have no doubts
