Will a VF SC off a 996 3.4 work on a 997 C2S?

Hi guys thought I'd ask here before calling VF. I guy is selling a year old VF charger off his 99' 996 currently on his car and working fine. I was thinking the V-2 charger is the same on the 996 and 997 thus I would just have to purchase new plumbing/brackets and GIAC software. I might be able to grab this kit for $5000!

Awesome deal but I would call VF regardless of what you hear on this forum. Either way, I highly doubt it will fit without some adjustments. At the very least there are porbably some mounting brackets that will need to be changed out.

Yeah I am bored. I imagine that the supercharger itself is probably similar if not exactly the same to the one used in the 997 kit. Then its just a matter of getting the correct mounting brackets and hoses etc etc.... Of course all these little things could add up to a lot at which point you might just be better off waiting for a used 997 kit or buying a new kit. I would guess you would also need specific GIAC software as well which will not be cheap.

However, I would not be surprised if VF is willing to work with you. They probably know what parts can be transferred over and what you need to buy to make this work.

I'm sure it will add up. Im thinking if I can keep it all under 7500 I'm still good. I'm guessing I'm looking at roughly $2000-$2500 for install. I'm talking Canadian dollars so im still good.

The software flash alone is around $1,100-1,200 and the brackets won't be cheap!
What about the TPC that is for sale right now!?
It will bolt on and everyting you need is there and I think he is down to $6,500(it is in the for sale column).
Also, allow a few dollars for odds and ends for buying a USED charger as well as more for install.Installing a used kit brings greater challenges and longer install time thus resulting in $$$$$.
I wouldn't do it if I were you,I think it would be cheaper to get in on a group buy for a new one!
Or at least a used kit that is BUILT specifically for your model car !

GL,

Stacy

PS The charger by itself is probably the cheapest part of the kit.

You may just be right.....well it won't hurt in looking into it anyways. I would go for the TPC had it been local. It's just easier dealing/buying complex mods like this face to face IMO. By the way man, how is your install comin' along? I totally forgot you are installing a charger yourself!!! Big props dawg! I gotta checkout that thread.
