Jack point on 09 997

Can someone point out the rear jack point to lift up the rear of a 09 Carrera. On the first generation 997 there was a metal stub next to the crankcase. I can't seem to locat that on the new generation.

Is the oil drain plug next to it? The oil filter is now accessible from the engine lid rather than below on the first generation.

Hi mass, it is in the manual and is the same as the 05-08 cars. The rear jack points are right in front of each rear wheel.

Now I do not know about this metal stub you mention...please explain. Thanks! Mike

The metal stub behind the crankcase is outlined here. Not sure where it is on the new ones.

That is my question: where is the equivalent of that stud on the 997.2?

Don't waste your time looking for a spot to lift your car with the engine which is improper. For a faction of the cost of new motor mounts, you can buy several new jacks and lift the car properly.

He's suggesting ... lift it on the left and lift it on the right but he doesn't like that rear point .... I've used the rear for years myself on dif Pcars .... but not for any serious work.
I do agree, best always the designated regular jack points, in front of the rear wheels .... they are still there on the 997.2.

Even on the 997.1 there is the same problem. How do you get the jack stands under the car if you have a floor jack holding up the car at that very point? It's a real chicken and egg problem. If you don't use the engine point that some people use, how can you do it?

'Jack stands' weren't mentioned .... (but that is one of the things many of us use that rear point for ) .... at least for the rear wheels.
Here is the thread on renntech.

From what I can tell, despite the repeated references to a thread that isn't exactly clear on the location of that engine point to begin with (only a blurry small image indicating where the stub is)... the jist seems to be, use two jacks on the rear wheels after the fronts are on jack stands and just keep the jacks in place to hold up the car. Seems that what one needs is a jack and jackstand that work together, where the jack lifts the jackstand plate, which is then locked in on the jackstand and the jack lowered to use on the next jackstand.
