Anyine done this ??
The Cayman has no rear seats, but there's a nice storage shelf with an elastic cargo net under which you can put things, and the things won't slide around.
When you fold down the rear seats of our 997's, you get a nice storage shelf too. But if you put anything on it, the stuff will slide around. Has anyone installed an elastic cargo net on this rear area?
Seems to me that it would be a good idea.
If anyone has done it, I'd love to hear how you did it, and maybe a photo??

I use to use the rear seats as a shelf for storing my tool box (to and from the track), but since installing the the roll bar, the access to the rear is limited and have removed the seats all together.
I tend to keep my rear seats folded down 90% of the time. I think it keeps the rear seats leather fresher and cleaner. It also lets me 'hide' small packages on the actual seat; pretty much hidden from view when the backs are down.
Now getting back to your notion. I think you've got a good idea. I bought a 'cargo net' kit for my wifey's Lexus RX330. It comes in black and might be able to be 'modified' to do something like you want. There might be other kits or 'bungy cord' material that would work as well.
Good luck . .

Don't
I already have a racecar, with a full cage.
I don't want another cage, or even a bar.
I was just wondering about something that I would hope
would be simple.

I did use the shelf before it was removed. I had a extra net that came with my Audi and I used some carabeaners to attach the net. It is a tight squeeze to get it hooked up but once it is in place it should work fine.

To the mounting posts that attach the rear seat backs to the car. One on each corner of the seat back and the wrap the net around and connect on the underside as well. You could probably use zap straps as well. It is one of those projects that takes a little bit of work to see what works best for your net.
when
When folded down, there's a pretty good sized shelf.
I've gone on trips with a soft-sided duffel kind of bag and, on that shelf, it stays in place fairly well. If I put a regular suiitcase there it will slide all over the place. It would be nice to be able to bungee down a regular suitcase with a cargo net.
Why hasn't Porsche come up with this on their own?
They're already using it in the Cayman.
