How to turn the Audio off?

Embarrassed to ask, but I just can't find the way to turn the Audio (either CD or radio) off when I simply want to look at the map or use the phone of the PCM.

Whenever I use any function of the PCM, I must have the Audio switched on at the same time. There's no way to switch it off??

I just turn the volume all the way down.

Simple and free!

For PCM2 press AUDIO button and in that menu is a Mute box. Check the box to mute audio except for Navigation instructions.

The Gen 1 PCM was such that you cannot mute - you turn the volume down, which is what I did on my 2007 C2S. Really irritating because over time, you'd get a hiss and have to turn it down again. With the Gen 2 in the 2009 you now have a mute function - quick push and it's mute, push for a second or so, off.

Good idea, but I find that it "unmutes" itself the next time I'm in the car. Or at least I thought it did...

You may be right about automatic unmute when you turn the car off, but it this in not referenced in the PCM2 manual. My car is off the road for the winter so I can't check it. You will see a line through the loudspeaker symbol at the bottom of the PCM display (along with the outdoor temperature, etc.) if the audio is muted.

Hello as a owner of a 2009 911S, which I took out today I can tell you first hand that if you hold in the volume button it will turn off the radio, cd , ipod but still give you navigation sound.

Congrats on your new ride! It looks great!

When you say "hold in the volume button", do you actually mean lower the volume all the way down until complete silence? What we have in 997.1 the volume is controlled by dial instead of button.

i believe this is true. everytime i turn down the volume, it goes back up when i restart the car. I wish it didn't or wish it had a dedicated mute button.

in the bimmers, if you press the volume/power button, it will turn of the music audio portion of the car, but the nav and screen is still functional. this would be nice if the porsche did the same

Confirmed the same operation on my car this morning.

Can't Porsche come out with a PCM firmware update for that? Really!
