You say that batteries should be bigger? are you willing to accept more weight? I'm not.

Solution? Be smart how you drive your sports car. Be mindful of its electrical current usage and charging. Drive longer and/or use a battery maintainer.

BTW... a Honda Civic is typically driven daily longer distances and the battery has a chance to recharge.
To Adias: I respect your knowledge of Porsche cars, and your restraint with me! I also appreciate your instinct to defend a great car.

I'm obviously new to the forum and the world of 911s, so I defer to your judgment. I hope that with proper care and LOTS of driving I won't have what seems to be a recurring problem.

It's a little discouraging logging in to 6speed, Rennlist, and Rennteam, which I do frequently and usually with great joy, and seeing the same old problem cropping up repeatedly, day after day: bad battery, bad alternator, mystery drainage, how to jumpstart, my key is stuck, etc.

This evidence of this specific class of problems suggests that Porsche
has, what, a blind spot in its engineering? That's my main point. The Honda example was just an example; I've owned MB, BMW, numerous american cars, and also Hondas, and never seen this frequency of similar complaints. Never owned a Maserati or Ferrari.

But I have to admit I was shocked to find that this paragon of engineering suffers a weak spot, if indeed it does. Sometimes it takes an outsider or newbie to point out that the emperor's clothes have a hole in a very embarrassing location! I'll take your advice and hope you're right.

But... that happens with Corvette, Z350, R8s, Ferraris, Lambos and them all if they are not driven enough to allow the battery to charge. You do not hear those complaints when those cars are daily drivers. In the case of the OP, as per his statement, he had a device that was constantly draining current, even when the car was sitting, and that was why the battery depleted itself.

It sounds like that a battery maintainer would be a good investment for you.

Not an issue. Things are what they are. Batteries need to be charged. Ask the EV owners.

This could be my money for my Softronic flash
This remedy is simple -ANY time that you ever feel that you "threw away money" go in the garage and look at your new car .

As for yoir current car it would be your ex car and much like a former friend or ex girlfriend things started out sweet but to deny that thjngs have changed renders a co dependent and stangnant relationship . It;s not fun , It's not healthy. It's when moving on is really moving forward .

The same with your car . Wish it well , say good bye to it so you can at least remember it with fondness and move on.

The 997.2 awaits you . You admit yourself that you are ready . What are you waiting for?

Thanks guys for the help. All in all it cost 1100 bucks to wire it to another wire not to draw, and put my baby back together. Now 2mmrrw ill call the installers and see whats up. As for a 997.2. I got a test drive and all I can say is UHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I cant believe that car is as fast as it is. The PDK is amazingggggggggg. Im messed up and will leave it at that.
