C2 Seat ideas

Just got a super nice&clean C2 cab, however it has non heated seats and partial power(recline)only.
What do you guys recommend:

1. Install aftermarket seat heaters(switch on the side) $600
2.Get used 997 power seats w/heaters and add OEM switch. around $1500
3. Get sport seats.
4. Sell my seats if there is market for it...
And if anyone wants to sell his black power heated seats let me know btw only 20k pampered miles, must look new.

Thanks,
Vlad

Your non-power seats without heaters are light... I would keep them or get GT3 or GT2 seats. Of course you are in MI so I am not sure what your priorities are. I grew up in Kalamazoo, MI by the way.

I wouldn't do option 1, as it seems like it would be cheap and effect resale.

I would check to see if your wiring harness will allow for factory heated seats. If so then go route 2, sports seats don't have any heat either, and I bet in a CAB you will want the bum warmers.

The market for your seats is non existent IMO.

johnstoy is infamous around these parts
NorthVan nailed your biggest hurdle: unless an option was ordered when the car was built at the factory, Porsche (generally) does not include any wiring for it.

But if the wiring is there, sports seats can have OEM heat - mine do, and the seats don't have to be power adjusting to have the heated option - mine are manual (except the power recline) with heat. And power adjusting seats do not necessarily have heat, so make sure you carefully check out the specs on any used seats you might buy.

I bought a 1999 Landrover Discovery from a Texas Dealer, it didn't have heated seats, however it did have leather. All Disco seats with leather had the heater element in them, and the wiring harness were in place. I ordered a set of switches and a new cover for the centre console and $50 later I had heated seats.

Porsche does so much customization that they will build to the specs instead of having the buy in bulk mentality that other manufactures have. You are correct that there are many different versions of the seats with heaters and or power.

You can probably add heat to the existing seats using OEM parts. I did it to my 996. Look at Dennisvogel.com and see his section on adding heat to seats in his boxster. I used this as a guide to add heat to mine. I am sure that adding it to a 997 would be similar. The wiring won't be there, each harness is made based on the options ordered, but the added wiring is not that much.

This reminded me of a problem I had with my first 997. The computer "browned" out and the heated seat option was lost in the computer settings. Dealer needed to turn it back on. I would think that with this option you would at least need to do that.
