EVO Cold Air Intake on a Tiptronic Car?

Hi there -- tried searching the forums, but couldn't find the answer.

I'm thinking about buying a fellow forum member's EVO Intake, but need to know if there is a specific EVO Intake for tiptronic cars versus non-tip cars. For example, I know with the K&N CAI, there is an extra step you need to take with the tiptronic vacuum line that comes off the stock airbox.

In reading EVO's installation instructions, it is unclear what you do with this vacuum line in the install.

I've email EVO and called afterhours, and plan on calling them tomorrow morning but I thought I would throw it out to the forum to see if I could get an answer quicker so I could complete the transaction.

So, thanks in advance,

-Eddie

From what I remember (I installed and tried both), there was no extra hose for the TIP. I do remember getting CEL codes on the EVO, then switching to the K&N - no CELs. But others have had different results. Save the $$ and go straight to a VF or TPC supercharger. That will unleash the beast.

Better check again...as a former Tip owner there are 2 versions for the Evo cold air kit. The tip version is different with a vacuum hose for the Tip tranny.

I'm looking and looking. I don't see any hose from tip tranny or diff to the airbox in any diagrams I have. There may be one after the throttle and in the the distributor tube area...... And I do not remember disconnecting any vac hoses from the airbox when I installed either the EVO or K&N CAI.. ?? Pictures anyone?

The hose comes off the sensor that is attached to the tube if memory seves me correctly. Then its plugged and zip tied. Someone did a full thread on this with pictures or video.

look at the bottom of the stock cold air intake box on a tip car and you will see a vacuum hose. When I was going to buy a Evo Cold Air intake I called Evo myself and found out this info.

Eddie,

Looks like the intake for the tip has a different part number then the one for a 6MT based on this website: http://www.paragon-products.com/prod...-vflow-997.htm

Thanks. Yes, I know I spoke with someone at EVOMS today. Basically, I SHOULD be able to make a 6 speed version work with a bit of a modification. I'm thinking of adopting the K&N solution on the EVO Intake and seeing what happens.

If my modification doesn't work, they'll sell me the correct hose assembly for $60.

I'm going to Pep Boys to see if I can source a 90 degree hose mender, silcone tubing and rubber grommet...then I'll be contacting you!
