It is for looks, I have H&R 15mm in the rear and 7mm in the front.

Also Porsche can charge you $800 for two sets of metal shims.

Shawn, if you want spacers contact Damon@tirerack.com he is a sponsor and has great prices on them, just make sure you order longer bolts, the OEM will be too short.

im going to mount them first and see. i did see the tr thread about spacers.

found another guy who is running these wheels w/o a spacer on a 997 an says they work fine.

if i can skip the spacers would be great. the wheels are already going to stick out 12mm past stock without a spacer.

Micheal, I run 305's on 11" Sport Design Wheels with 15mm spacers on the track. My car is lowered to ROW height, and I don't rub at all.

If anybody wants a set of spacers I've got a pair of 'genuine' Porsche 5mm spacers w/ Porsche supplied longer bolts (8). Asking $100 OBO including shipping to any place in the lower 48. PM me @ ap997s@verizon.net if your interested.

ps. Not my intention to hi-jack this treard.

FWIW, the 5mm Porsche spacers come include 4 'security' lug bolts with the extended sets . Not sure if others do.

I hated my "security" bolt, switching between the street and track wheels and having to deal with this PIA. I replaced it before I swapped to the spacers and new bolts

excellent info, thank you. i was wondering why not build a wheel with the correct offset rather than resort to spacers and that answers it.
