I Got my Calipers Painted !!!!!!!!!
Yes he is serious and correct. It has been noted here and in the Porsche magazines many times that 19" wheels and the regular Carrera suspension (ie non PASM) do not work well together. Stay with 18" wheels on your standard Carrera.
But i've seen several c2 carrera at the dealership that came with 19 wheels from the factory without pasm.
I really do want to put 19 on though. So should i switch to coilovers first ?

dksu- aloha, they look great! I'm glad to hear you ended up with good service and good work.
Anyone else looking to have this done- Keep in mind that person / business was banned from 6speed by the admins for unscrupulous practices here. I'd would suggest checking out Greg or Mike at RSS for a guaranteed "no hassle" experience-
Powder coating is better than paint on calipers IMO as far as looking factory and long-term durability, and you'll be dealing with a 6speed sponsor that has an excellent reputation here for quality and service. My 5c...

dksu- get coilovers first. it will make a massive improvement to the look / ride of your pcar. What island are you on? Roads on Oahu are for the most part horrible around town. 19's will look much better as far as aesthetics, especially with 15mm spacers in rear and 7mm spacers in front to bring them out a bit.
I put 19's on my C2 and love em. No problems in 2 years and the dealer put them on for me. I would just put 19's and don't lose any sleep over it. Coilovers would be great if you can but not absolutely necessary. As you mentioned, factory builds regular C2's with 19's as an option.
I'm on Big island of hawaii. Roads here are pretty nice. No potholes. I really want to go with coilovers but i'm afraid that my car won't drive straight after installing coilovers, despite having an alignment done. At least my past experience with lowering the car proved disastrous for me. Even after several attempts to get alignment done, my car just wouldn't drive straight. Can i just put springs and install 19"?

Thanks for the assuring words. I have no intention of tracking my car so I think my car will be ok with 19'". I just want pure aesthetic without too much hassle.

Second. There should be no technical issues with 19 inch wheels on a non PASM car. As long as the overall dimentions are unchanged (tire diameter) and offset are correct, you should be fine. It should not affect warranty or cause mechanical problems. The only thing you will notice is with a lower profile sidewall, you will feel the road more...it is not a problem with the suspension.
Third, there is a MAJOR advantage of having a non PASM car...if you decide to go with a coilover system made by someone other than Bilstein, you don't have to use your dealership's PIWIS to disable the PASM function. PASM is over-rated. I wish it didn't come on my turbo. A proper setup should provide you with comfortable secure driving on the street in any condition...no "magical" button that changes the dampers should be needed. Bilstein is the only manufacturer that supports PASM...no other aftermarket company provides coilover dampers with this feature. If you want to go with something more hefty (ie JIC, JRZ, Moton) for the track, you would need your ECU reprogrammed by the dealer (many dealerships won't do it for legal reasons) to turn off PASM or a constant error will pop up. Not having PASM in the first place is actually a bonus IMHO.
Finally, if your car didn't drive straight after having your last vehicle lowered with a coilover system, the tuner did something wrong.
Again...nice looking car...and very nice calipers.

I guess it's more like buyer's remorse. Sometimes, i wish i shelled out little more to buy carrera s. I envy the features like red calipers, white face gauges, etc on S. But i'm happy "modding" my car and my brother has 09 s and in power department, i cannot tell much difference in power.
