The Vanity Plate Mod

I have to get plates this week for my 997, and I have been contemplating the vanity plate mod! What do you guys think?

Who can come up with the best plate for my Guards Red 997? Check to see if the plate is available and post the results for me to review. If I like it, I just may go for it!

if you don't want to look like you're yearning for attention, skip the vanity plate.

law enforcement says it makes one a target for crime and vandalism (msnbc)

Vanity plate, do it

Get one, they are fun and if done right won't get you into trouble. Plates to avoid are one like the following.... avoid based on the advice above. But if done in a different manner can be nice....
Poor examples I know but trying to just make a point....
2qik - to quick
SPRFST - Super Fast
1wkspay - One weeks pay -pretty funny but magnet for car getting destroyed-
Lotownr - Lottery winner
TOPSPD - Top Speed
RACEME - race me
ULOOSE - You Loose
MOVOVR - Move Over
BOOSTD or BOOST- Boosted, cool for a SC car but could be trouble

My plate will be in soon, I live in a city which appreviates as NPT... , so my plate will be "NPT 911". (Newport RI)

Plates like MY997, 06997 (year and model of car) etc I think will walk line between getting a vanity plate and not drawing to much attention. Just my thoughts.....

If you drive like an animal, cut people off, bob and weeve through traffic, plan on riobbing any banks soon or getting in any high speed chases avoid vanity plates. Easy plate to remember

Yes. I wish there were more Pcars in my neck of the woods! Red 911 really sticks out, but that's not my problem to worry about. I'm loving life and my time behind the wheel. I still have my Titan 4X4 when I want to assimilate into the population

Another thing . . .

Someone wrote in an earlier thread that a vanity plate makes it easier for people who take it upon themselves to police other's driving to report you to the police (e.g. saw a red Porsche with plates 2Fast doing 90 mph and weaving in traffic on X hwy at Y time). Seemed like pretty reasonable advice (to avoid one more possible hassle in life). That said, if a vanity plate gives you pleasure, get it.

Too funny! The hardest decisions are paint/interior colors and the vanity plates.

At least in Ohio you might have a shot at "02 997" or some such. I once spent about an hour and a half on the California DMV site trying out variations on that sort of thing and they were ALL taken!

Seriously, I had picked out about 45 different plates that were available! So I went to the BMV today....and decided to compromise a little. I didn't want the standard plate and I didn't want to draw extra attention. So, I decided to upgrade to the Cleveland Indians license plate...but I let the computer pick out my number. It was funny, the computer picked the year I was born and the female clerks initials! She was in LOVE with the car...and gave me her phone number! She had to inspect the out of state VIN, so I let her sit in the car. I have NEVER seen such a big smile. She let me cut to the front of the line, and gave me the BEST customer service I have ever had at the BMV. She had apparently told the other female clerks about my car, and they all were smiling and saying 'hi'!

My dad has no idea why I would want a Porsche, when a Mustang Shelby or Z06 offers more HP for less money. It is official...there is NO substitute!!!

Nick

PS - I have a bunch of plate ideas if someone in Ohio needs them! It was fun to exercise the 'marketing' side of my brain.
