Went to dealer to see 09 c4s cars, they offered an 09 Cayman S for test drive

I test drove drove the 09 PDK cayman S

The car sounds good, feels lighter and has nice steering and throttle . Around curvy roads/S type of roads I felt the 09 C4s was more stabler/planted than the cayman. I was surprised since every review says cayman is the best porsche around corners

apples to oranges

the all wheel drive car isn't a fair comparison to the Cayman though. I had a Cayman S as a loaner a few weeks ago, and thought it was great. Handled better than my C2, even though the power was a bit off.

YMMV.

C4S all the way, very well planted, WB looks great and handles well on the track

The 09 cayman s with pdk and sport plus is just amazing, Just wish they would go to paddle shifters instead of the push/pull buttons.

Power is good, around 320 horse now I believe.... the new DFI engines are a little noisy now with the fuel pump at idle but not annoying.

The cayman has more engine noise /exhaust sound permeating into cabin, i thought the new boxtser S also sounded nice

BUT honestly in the test drives , we are trying to focus on so many things it is tough to figure out all ;

I guess of all cars driven
1) 911 c4s had the power, mid range punch , traction and awesome grip and sounded nice in the mid range
2) same thing with C2s
3) C2 feels powerful but S definetly sounds and has more prsesence in mid range
4) 09 Cayman S feels as fast as base 911 but it does not feel as confidence inspriing as the c4s around S curves etc( i can feel the balance in the CS pivotng around the driver and digging into asphalt for traction but 4s has that planted/grippy feel
