Techart vs Eibach springs

Can someone tell me the difference between the Eibach and Techart lowering springs. Why the difference in cost? For cosmetics and street use only.

I had Techart . I don't know if the Turbo springs are the same as the NA car . They were great but I feel that the damtronics are the way to go.

Techart does make coil overs but the cost of the Bilsteins tilted the scale for me .

I never saw Eibach (aren't they usually a BMW spring?) . I have seen H and R and did not like them . I feel the car is too low and not practical for the street .

The main difference between the Techart spring and dampronics is the stress placed on the tires is greater with a spring setup than with a suspension which accomodates some of the roll . The damptronics provide just enough interaction into a tight curve but NOT so much that the car feels floaty like stock.

Definitely the damptronics are the way to go, dial it the way you want and you can adjust it to your liking. Can't say enough about the CO'c.

Eibach makes the TechArt spring...IMHO Eibach springs are the way to go over the H&R spring. The H&R spring will lower the car to much, compressing the OEM PASM struts and shocks by more than an inch. The Eibach springs don't lower it as much and the TechArt even less.

What is the cost of the coilovers installed. Any recommendations in the Southern Ca area. between San Diego and Los Angeles?
Thanks

Installation costs shoud be similar to the "just" springs approach. The car is already equipped with a coil over strut configuration. It's just with the Damptronics setup the struts are replaced along with the spring.

Eibach makes the springs for Techart, in fact the only two manufactures for Springs for the 997 is Eibach and H&R, every other brand is repackaged of one or the other. One or the other make the OEM springs for Porsche to Porsche's Specs.

I would call or e-mail Fabryce at GMG. He did my install & alignment. I have been there many times and have never had an issue which is saying something in today's world.

Install & alignment will probably run you around $900 plus whatever you pay for the damptronics.

Problem for me with the Damptronics is they lower the car to much for me, getting in and out of my office building and my condo building is already a challenge with scraping. The TechArts lower the car about 15mm if the car has PASM while the Bilstein units lower the car more than an inch. I think it looks great but if the car is a DD with bad roads...to much worry for me. Then again I don't track this car...if I was tracking it I would definitely go the Damptronic route. Although, I think RonCT said he got better lap times with the OEM dampers..if I remember correctly.

I guess it depends on how far you want to go with your tuning~ I just have a simple H&R spring set up and am pretty pleased with it and it didn't put a huge dent in my wallet~ Although after reading some of these posts, I am getting tempted...HeHe~
And yes it does sit pretty low and even lower because I have the GT3 front bumper But all in all I am very pleased with the looks and ride quality~
Where are you in Cali? My buddy owns a shop in Baldwin Park and does a GREAT job for a VERY feasible price~

The damptronics unit probably doesn't sit any lower than your H&R setup. If you went down that road I think it would be better. The H&R's compress the OEM strut too far down its dampening range. The Bilstein setup was designed for that ride height. The Eibachs don't lower the car more than an inch and would be a safer bet in my book over the H&R's.

The Damptronics are ride height adjustable. I have mine set to about the same height as the Techart springs.

From what I read and heard the minimum drop for the Damptronics was 1.25" for PASM cars.

They are coil overs. They may come pre-set to that height but they are ride height adjustable. Mine are set at approximately -20mm from stock height on my PASM equipped car.
