Having custom GFG 3pc wheels made 20x12 what offset is needed??

Guys will a 20X12 et57 work on a 997S? The thing is I am trying to get the biggest lip possible made on the wheel so this is the set up that allows a 4'' lip. So does anyone have any experience with this set up? My car is running on the stock suspension. What is the largest tire size I can put without rubbing?

my 12's are 69mm offset. so 57mm will be 12mm more offset to the outside. i think it will be too much.

most run 305 or 315 on 12's

CCW's are very nice wheels. I just picked up Volk TE37's from a local 6 speeder, 18lbs front 20lbs rear (+ tires). Not as pretty as the CCW's but a good track wheel.

I think a 4" lip on 20's will look awesome, you will probably want to lower it. I hear the craters on the 401 and other roads around TO are worse then ever, are you sure 20's are wise?

401 is seriously bad. You just gotta dodge those craters. I am ordering a crate of these GFGs so the deal is too good for me not to put a set on the car. Any one have any insight on whether the 20x12x et57 will work???

use the wheel offset calculator at http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

I have my 20x11 TA wheels outward +19mm over the stock 19x11 wheels. Perfect fit with no room to spare.

If you are running 19x11" rears with stock 67 offset, the new 20x12" wheel with 57 offset will stick the wheels outward by 23mm. That much outward offset will NOT fit on a narrow body car. You need to stay at 19mm or less outward offset from your stock wheels. If you run 315 or 325 tires you, 17mm or 18mm may be the max. 305 would buy you a tad more room.

I'm surprised that the custom wheel maker cannot advise you on proper fitment??

Hmmmmm. I was thinking 57 offset would be less aggresive and that extra inch would be on the inside barrel. I was looking at www.vellanowheels.com and they have pics of many NB 997's with 20x12 set up. Gonna call them on Monday to see what offsets they use. If you peek under your car can you tell how much space is left between the wheel and the wheel well/strut? Im betting you have an inch or so to spare. Or at least I'm hoping so, man I really want it to work.

The rim width is divided equally on inside / outside of barrel I believe. Stuffing a fat rim under there is all about using the correct wheel offset. There's a couple of 996 nb owners here running 12" rims. I'd be hesitant to have wheels built to spec by a manufacturer that cannot provide guidance on proper vehicle fitment- Usually there is a standard no return policy if custom made wheels do not fit. I'm just throwing that out there for consideration-

Use the wheel offset calculator, it is very helpful- It will show you how much inner room is added as well. I have a ton of inner clearance after adding the TA's with 7mm spacers, 28mm or so. When I ran the calculations on your proposed wheel it showed an added 5mm of inner clearance.

I'll definitely look at the calculator. Actually, GFG has done 20x12 many times before. It's just that it is very difficult to get a 4" lip on a NB. This is new to them. I have never myself seen a 4" greater lip achieved on a NB. You are still right they should not have me second guessing. I just want piece of mind.

the 57mm offset is going to be very aggressive and you're risking damadge to your quarter panel if you hit a bump hard enough to push the wheel up.

im not 100% that there will be contact but the likelyhood is good.

a 997 GT3 uses a 12 inch wide with a 68mm offset. most of the cars also use a 5mm spacer so the wheel ends up with a 63mm final offset. now go and look at a gt3 and ask yourself, can i live with a wheel that sticks out an additional 6mm.

the gt3 wheels with the 5mm spacers look like they are on the ragged edge and this is additional to the fact that the gt3 has rolled panels. another 6mm and no rolled lips...

so, i say no go
