On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say it's about a 2. All you'll need is a 13mm socket and a little bit of muscle and they should come right off.

Also, try spraying some WD-40 to make the removal a little easier if the tip feels "stuck".

If you could jack the car up and place it on jack stands you will have more room, but it is not necessary. If you cant put the car on jack stands safely just stick your head under there.

+1. You don't need to jack the car up at all. Just lay flat and slide beneath the tip, maybe a little askew to allow leverage for loosening the nut.

I am not sure if the tips are different for the previous 997.1's, but on my 2009 997.2 S, the tips required a T12 Torx socket. The set is available at Sears for $15-$20 I believe.

mine (997.1) was a standard 13mm hex... didn't need jacking up at all... if you're flexible, you don't even need to get under the car. Just reach down and up behind the tip; you can locate the hex bolt by feel.
