Another DME Question...

I’m looking at a 2006 911 and the DME came back with 175 ignitions in Range 1 and zeroes in the other ranges. The actual printout for Range 1 says, “175 / 66.1 h.” What does the “66.1 h” mean?

I usually see a number very close to the car’s total operating hours but the printout says this car has approximately 300 hrs on it. (DMEs for other cars have been much much closer…)

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks a lot!

it means that for about 0.43 seconds, the engine bumped up against the rev limiter the last time occurred at hour 66.1. If the car has about 300 hours the total mileage should be in the 13,000 range and maybe the rev limiter was hit at about 3,000 miles. No big deal hitting the rev limiter - the important ranges are all zeros which is good.

that is an incredibly clean dme scan. i think most people on this board probably have thousands of range 1s. nothing to worry about at all..

Your opinions on this DME report (997tt) would be appreciated:

range 1: 5800
range 2: 750
range 3: 55
range 4: 4
range 5: 1

This is a car with ~15,000 miles. I don't yet know the number of operating hours.

For laughs, check out this one:

range 1: 65535
range 2: 65535
range 3: 23707
range 4: 5904
range 5: 101

The above is a car with ~6,000 miles and ~250 operating hours.

Car #1: Previous owner made an error in a shift, could use some practice

Car #2: ECU is likely modified with increased rev limiter...and previous owner needs lessons because he abused the car.

This implies that there is a limit to the number that it stores: 16bit -2^16=65536.

Yes, being a tech guy I recognized that and eventually the dealer admitted that the car had seen heavy track use, flashed ECU, exhaust, headers, et cetera.
