FVD Mufflers

I am looking at buying a set of FVD mufflers for my stock 997 3.6. I did a search on the forums and found nothing on these exhausts for the 997. Anyone have any experience with them? Any drone issues and are they really loud? I am looking at the export "sound" non TUV approved version.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon I almost bought a set for the 3.8. Rhonda was kind enough to send me some videos (sorry deleted them already). Give her a call at FVD and she can send some videos. I loved the way they sound..just to expensive for just mufflers. I went with Borla and I think they are one of the best sounding mufflers out there.

Thanks Dave. I did get the FVD videos but all sound clips to me sound the same. Also all the clips are 3.8's and have full systems (headers and cats) where I am only looking at changing my mufflers only so sound clips don't tell me anything. I have talked to Rhonda and she did send me sound clips but full systems and 3.8's! I would like to hear someone with personal exprerience on a 3.6 just mufflers. The FVD mufflers are not too bad priced and I'm partial to German manufactured products so I'm willing to pay a bit more. Have not even though about borla's cause when I think borla, I think mustangs and american muscle cars. Not to say they don't make a great product for Porsche, I'm just a snob that way I guess !!! How much were the Borla's? Any drone with them? Maybe I'll give them a call.....

No problem..you should always get what you want. I will say this though...the Borlas in no way make the car sound like a Mustang/Vette. It sounds even more like a PCar..the car with the 200cpi cats and X51 headers sounds like a cup car when you crack open the throttle.

Are you considering the Dansk product? This is what I was considering as Rhonda quoted me around $900 or so. It's not on their website anymore..at least I didn't see it.

$900 for mufflers are very reasonable ! I paid $1,000 for Afterhours sport mufflers - too loud for me. Very difficult to judge by video only!! Better listen to it in person, else don't buy.

Dave,

I did look at Dansk and the price was actually higher than the FVD's...nowhere near $900 for either system!

Jon this was just for the mufflers no tips...that is what I was quoted though. She did say it was a really good deal at the time..either way. I saw on another post that you were considering AWE/Fabspeed and such. I had the AWE's on my car before the Borlas. They sounded nice but not aggressive enough for me.

Yeah I really am struggling with the thought of paying so much and then not being totally happy. I guess it would make things easy if the exhausts weren't so darn expensive and there was someone close by who had a stock 3.6 997 I could hear but no luck there either. Anyways I'm suprised the AWE was not agressive enough. There is such a broad range of opinions on the exhausts here, it is so hard to tell what's loud to one and perfect music to another. Well my search continues!

Thanks,
Jon

Jon you are more than welcome to hear the Borlas. They are US made but so is Fabspeed and AWE.

Thanks Dave but you have a 3.8 with upgraded headers and cats so not sure if hearing yours will give me any idea what mine would sound like. I would really like to hear someone's opinion of the FVD mufflers but seems like no one has them on this board!

No I didn't yet and I guess I should do that. I figured this board has a larger population or at least large enough to find what I was looking for.
