Illuminated Door Sill - Blinking

I've got the illuminated door sills on my C4S. I've noticed over the last few days that the driver side light in the sill blinks on and off randomly. Sometimes it works like it should and other times it looks like a fluorescent bulb that's trying to fire up. I've done some searching here and on other boards but have not found any posts with a similar problem. Any one else seen this before? Thanks in advance for any help!

The car is going into the dealer on Friday to have XM Radio installed. If nothing else, I can try and get them to look at it under warranty.

i actually have the same thing happening when opening my doors. It happens only for a split second. I asked my dealer, and we went up to another 997 in the show room and had the same issue. Its really annoying though, so im probably gonna go back to get something done about it...im also curious to know if others dont have this issue that have the illuminated door sills.

Never had this specific problem but it just sounds like a loose connection. I'm sure the dealer can take care of it when you have it in later this week.

Mine doesn't just flash when the door is opened. When it does occur, it stays that way. Then I'll go for a drive and when I return home it works perfectly. Probably is a loose connection that rattles itself back in place while driving. As long as I can reproduce it at the dealer they should have a fix.

There was a thread a few months ago on doing a self-install of the illuinated sills. Someone who did it said that the wiring for it was amazingly complex and took hours and hours to do. Apparently, a bunch fo the wiring is actually in the door.

Given the complexity of the system, its not surprising that somethings gotten loose.

Mine often flicker for a few seconds when door is first opened. I expect it might be a fluorescent type bulb to evenly illuminate the length of the strip. I don't think it is a connector issue.

I think it is perfectly normal if it flickers a few times while the door is opening. This is what mine is doing and the dealer said it was normal.

Mine are factory installed. When I left my car at the dealer this morning they said they had seen this problem before. They are going to replace the driver side door sill under warranty. It's not a problem with the wiring, it's the light itself.

Mine is a factory install. It doesn't always flicker. Glad to see it may be fixed under warranty if too persistent.
