This recall had to do with faulty welds of the stainless tips; not the mufflers. Porsche replaced them in fear they might fall off in the path of trailing traffic. There were a few more 'campaigns' as I recall. Porsche did recall/replace select serial numbers of TIP trannies but I don't remember the reason. Suspect it was some manufacturing anomaly.

As leverage you can say that the body style and engine underwent the greatest revision in the facelift PLUS the new car comes with axle lock standard and the old one does not .

He has probably already been offered low 60's . 66.5 ought to get it done. Car must have less than 10K miles , no paint, no stories , and a clean DME .
For a similar car but a C2S Cab rather than C4S Cab, what kind of price would you think? Low 60's? KBB has this car from low 50's (Trade-In) to low 60's (Dealer Retail).

On a similar note, how valid is the pricing in KBB? In other words, if I go into a dealer and say I'm looking at paying something closer to KBB, will they take me seriously or laugh me out the door. Just asking because it seems that the prices on autotrader, cars.com, etc are listed much, much higher than KBB prices (even KBB Dealer Retail pricing).

Thoughts?

It was recall campaign A601 -- S models, all 05's and the first 5 months of the 06's -- actually for " insufficient weld seams between the fastening clamp and the tailpipe"; i.e. where the tailpipe exited the muffler. They replaced both tailpipes; shop time allowed was 40 minutes, so pretty simple.

kbb is just a tool because it's the person who buys the car or dealership who pays for the trade who makes the actual decision --not kbb or edmunds.

For an 06 C2S ( range 58.4- 62.5) with CPO , clean DME, no paint, low miles (under 10K) . The C4S is a bit more exclusive and rare and it is priced bighter new than a C2S cab.

A C4S cab will cost about 4 to 6K more especially in certain regions where demand is greater for AWD or cabs in general are more scarce.
