06-08 Differences?

May change gears and try to find a good low mileage used & buy, rather than lease an 09.
What are the major/minor diffs from 06-08 on S & 4S models cab or coupe?

Found a very clean private party 06 4S Cab for around mid 70's but it books in mid 60's? Owner was unaware.

All these people selling in a down economy and taking a bath...

As to the question, I am not aware of any changes from the '05-'08 model years.

Smart move . I am not a lease fan . 06 and 08 are the same car . A low mile C4S cab (manual) 06 wil get in the 60's . It is an expensive car when new.

As leverage you can say that the body style and engine underwent the greatest revision in the facelift PLUS the new car comes with axle lock standard and the old one does not .

He has probably already been offered low 60's . 66.5 ought to get it done. Car must have less than 10K miles , no paint, no stories , and a clean DME .

The most important changes are engine related. PAG has improved the robustness of the M97 engine RMS/IS over the years. The most important design change occurred in the latter '06 production. Try to get an '07 or a n '08.

RMS was a big 996 issue which carried over in less frequency into the 997 . The newer the car , the less likely to have the issue as Porsche apparently tried to remedy it . That does not mean that it's impossible for an 08 to have it . Any car can .

05 cars has one or two issues . If I recall correctly one was an exhaust simple remedy and the other may have been with the ceramic brakes overheating but I may be wrong . After all --it's been 4 years .

I think he's safe with an 06 . In fact with some of the recent posts on the DFI soot issues posted on the forum no car is guaranteed to be anything but a machine .

I don't remember the exhaust issue but I do remember a recall on my car . Mine was a launch car (black/black/ceramics /loaded ) . Let me see if I can look it up or jog my memory a bit.

I can't find it . I even looked on auto trader and found five launch 05 cars and none listed a recall in car fax . I do remember specifically that (jogging memory) that the shape of one of the parts had to be adjusted . It was very minor . I am not sure if it was exhaust related as stated in my post .

As for the ceramics -I had no problems at all . At that time some stated the generation one cermaics were overheating on the track . Then there was some doubts as to whether the earlist 997S had them or not.

My biggest problem with my launch car was THEIVES . Not the car itself .

I did want to point out though that the first cars faced some slight time related corrections .
